Hey gkg, which paintings will you be showing? Since we  wont be there can you tell us the ones on your site you will show so that we can look at them and pretend that we are there?

gkg

the new one isn\'t on the website - it\'s called Crazy - a self portrait of sorts. when you press on any of the mouths a sound, song, scream comes out.

one is the portrait of my mother from a photo from my childhood that you are so fond of:

and of course there is no way i could do a show on Art Out Loud without including the wonderful Mr. Chris Moss and his piece playing alongside the painting he wrote it for:  http://www.gkg-arts.com/creative%20flow.wmv

YaY! My favorite! It will be a good show and I am sure you will get a lot of response. Be sure to tell us how it went.!

gkg

sure!

by the way - i don\'t know why the image for Crazy is so large, but it does make something so obvious that it bears explaining - the lumps in the canvas are due to the sound devices behind it - i am trying to sort out a way to do that better.  for now they have to be shoved right up against the canvas to give enough contact when someone presses a mouth to activate it.

anyone who has a better more sensitive contact and wants to give me info would be a hero.   also - i need to find a motion sensor/recording/playback devise AT A REASONABLE BROKE ARTIST PRICE that will play something for a minute or longer.

these press and play things only hold 10seconds, and i had no luck finding a motion sensor that i could record something to that would take than 20 seconds.
Peace.

Wish I could see it in person, gkg. Interesting work! 8)

Is triple cobra a local band? That name sounds so familiar.
What type of music do they play?

### oh hey forgot to ask how the touch panel went?
I assume no problems.

touch panel was great - music was very loud so it was really funny watching people kneel down to be right in front of the painting and then reel back when they hit the redhead\'s mouth - with her blood curdling scream.

Triple Cobra is local - i don\'t know exactly how to classify the music - very good (i had said \'techno sorta/kinda\' - because my brain shorted out and i was thinking of an earlier group) - they are really like the Strokes!
Peace.

ok - one of life\'s little ironies - first piece to sell at this show was the one i hadn\'t even planned on putting in.  at the last minute as a lark i grabbed the painting and took it to the opening, i just leaned it against a wall.  it created a big stir and got snapped up.  how funny is that?!

picture isn\'t perfect, and for the life of me i haven\'t sussed how to make the damn image smaller on here.

Travis or Chris Moss, if one of you, or anyone else who knows how, wanna give me a hint i\'ll be all over it tomorrow...

meanwhile, CM, here\'s the tag for the piece with your music - still not able to get the motion thing working but i\'m checking out options for next time.

YIKES - THAT\'S EVEN BIGGER!!!  someone needs to clue me in on the sizing - bigger is NOT always better!

 :-*
Peace.

Giving away a little secret, wop me if I wasn\'t suppose to tell. But the Pinocchio painting is painted on an old wood cabinet door! I am fasinated by this.

Congratulations gkg! It is no suprise that this went as it did, good taste on the part of the buyer.  ;)

Make sure your at 72 DPI, for internet display, any bigger only makes the picture bigger and doesn\'t improve the quality.  Try resizing in photoshop or a photo editor at 72 DPI constrain the image and adjust the width to 4 or 6 inches (300 to 500 pixels). Then re upload them to your site with the same file name.

gkg

as always, the man knows what he\'s talking about!  thank you Travis.

SNGWTHME - no wops, i like the kitchen cabinet history of this thing.  the part that i find most amusing is that i never intended to take it to the show, as this was not a political show, but took it on a whim to tickle the people who gave me their old cabinets and windows.  they loved seeing the reincarnation of the nasty pale old cabinet door!

you know, some things just bring great karma and this show is one of them - this is like my 6th show this year, but it has generated a ton of interest beyond straight sales.  color me happy.
Peace.
