Feel it. Music is good for the soul. I am sad to report that a few nights ago ( Dec. 26 ) my Father died suddenly. He was 62. Totally unexpected. As if that does not suck enough, my Mother is in a mental institution ( again ). ( Sorry to drop such a heavy here ).
I did spend some time with my Mom back in July and I sent her home with some Buckethead cds/dvds. I have not seen my Father in 17 years ( long story ). Still, it hit me hard. I had tried for MANY years to have him be a part of my life. It did not work. Oh well. I did try. Hard. Anyhow, I got about 20 Buckethead dvd\'s yesterday in the mail ( I trade alot ). As usual, music is my happy place and it has helped so much. So, thank you Mr. Buckethead, even though we have met, played on the same bill back in 1996.... I don\'t know you. I know and LOVE your music and if by chance you ever troll around this forum, I just want to thank you. THANK YOU BUCKETHEAD. Your sounds are helping me through this tragic time. Peace.

I am sorry for your loss, I hear you about Music, its what kept me sane, thru my own losses (other posts some resent others far)

when losing a Parental Unit even if they are estranged from the said Unit\'s Joint Offspring, is hard, one thing is you are not alone and others WILL offer a (Cyber Space-aly connected) sympathetic shoulder to cry on, we are joined by words, that is a powerful thing.

ok ...

Thank you Chris. I appreciate what you say. This is my favorite forum ( I really don\'t do forums, hehe ). I\'m sorta suprised I posted this, but ...man, I\'m bumming. Anyway, yeah it\'s tough. My Pops was cool with my 2 younger brothers, but not me. I do understand why though, I\'m 38 ... had lots of time to deal with things.
I\'m just sad that it\'s done. I\'ve always thought he\'d come around at some point. Like yourself, I am a musican..... but, hey.. even more so a fan. Music heals.
Watching Buckethead and Zappa shows most of the day today, inbetwen phone calls. And also, to anyone reading this..... leave the past behind and love the ones you should. Life is way too short.
Thanks again, Chris.

I have yet to walk in those shoes, of saying goodbye to a Parental Unit. I thought I was close in 2004, when My Mom was Diagnosed with Colon Cancer, all those cold nights in the hospital, the tubes, leg massager\'s, drugs, lights, nurses...

scary! I dub 2004 the Nightmare year.

So I escaped into a healthy environment and seeing Buckethead really kept Me sane and away from bad things.

Mom is still with us.

Earlier (uhm last year) I posted a real bizarro post about My Second Cousin, who died suddenly. I still don\'t truly understand what happened but They are now one with the Force as well as others.

Chris..... glad to hear your Mom made it through such a scary, difficult period. Bless her. Yeah, I was not at all prepared for this. I\'ve been around the block SEVERAL times, but this hit hard. Worse everyday, that\'s ok...... soon it will get better.
Pepper\'s Ghost has been getting the most play here this week. The mood of that album is helping me alot.
I do recall the post about your second cousin, I think I replied to it. Anyhow, thanks Chris. You\'re allright  ;)

Chris DiCicco

no one is ever prepared and yes it will get better.

My Buddy\'s Dad died right next to Me in 02 THAT WAS SCARY cause as the Grim Reaper was taking him he latched on to me as an anchor into this world (not in a death grip), after the funeral my Buddy was playing some Lynard Skynard and his Dad\'s picture fell down, to say the least we shut off the music.
I didn\'t know about Buckethead then.

But Death is a part of Life.
Sorry for the philosophy but it got better for My Buddy, his Mom and Me after a time.
but it was still sad, thats why I choose not to go funerals anymore, becuase THAT image is burned into the brain and not the living one.

Yep, I\'m with you on the funeral thing. I stopped attending funerals back in 1990. I have had many friends die over the years. Always sad. The death of my father and the resulting sadness for me has alot to do with all the things that happened before his death. Things that will never be understood or made correct on his part. That\'s what hurts the most. I\'m sure you know what I\'m saying.
Oh yeah, I am mailing your "gift" tomorrow Chris  ;D
Thanks again for your support here. Peace.

Zintar,

sorry to hear about the unexpected loss.

I suggest continuing your steady diet of soothing Buckethead. It really helps, huh?

Thank you MantaRay. I appreciate it. It\'s been very hard, but yes a steady diet of Buckethead ( and a little Zappa on the side ) is helping me keep it together. Lucky for me I have about 75+ Buckethead and related  cd\'s ( all real, purchased copies !! no downloads ) and just as many dvd\'s/cdr\'s of shows. So, lots of variety  ;D   As I stated at the top of this thread..... music heals  ;)   Thanks again. John/zintar3000  p.s. even today I recieved a packet full of dvd\'s I did not have from Jone. Sweet. Almost time for a beer and a show.

Boots

ah yes, Jone is an amazing bot. The Buckethead community is blessed to have him around, promoting the best karma.

Enjoy your wedges.

  Thanks again.
Yep, Jone is sweet. The wedges helped.
I\'m happy to report that I\'m for sure feeling better. Thanks guys. My friends in " the real world here " and a handful of bots have been pretty helpful during all of this, actually many bots who don\'t even know it have helped me   ;)
I\'m back up to speed for the most part. Peace.

Penthouse:You\'re a musician and a public figure.  How did you make the choice to play music in front of hundreds of people?
Buckethead: It\'s two extremes. I feel comfortable in front of a
crowd. I love to play music. It makes me happy. I don\'t care about all the things that come w/ it.  If you can make people forget for that period of time what\'s hurting them, then I\'m happy to do that
