I want to thank all who continue to show an interest in my work from the movie ROCKY IV.  Many have been asking if and when the instrumental material that wasn\'t included on the soundtrack album will ever be released.  The copyright to that material is owned and controlled by parties other than myself so there are some legal issues involved that have been preventing me from making it available on my own.  If I am ever lucky enough to clear these hurdles, I will be sure and post a notification here for those who may be interested.

Thanks again  to all who continue to have an interest in my earlier movie work.

Cordially,
Vince

As a French listener, I have always wondered why you did not re-use such productions as "War" for some deeper and much modern kind of cinematic work. I am not saying anything bad about Rocky, its scope is universal. Rather, listening to such beautiful composition of yours made me think about life and death, illness and fight for life. Now that I found this forum, I understand and can only hope you will find the opportunity to claim back your music\'s original rights. Thanks for your work, this is wonderful.

PS: sorry, I hope I made myself clear for I do not write fluent English  ;) I wish you all a Happy New Year, despite the awful events in Asia ...

Vince,
First off, I am a huge fan.  You probably do not remember me, but had e-mailed you directly some time back in regards to how to get a hold of the music that was not published on the TFTM soundtrack and the Rocky IV soundtrack.  I had asked you what kind of gear you use, the inspirations you use for writing, and told you that your compositions have greatly inspired myself as a musician, even before I could play.

The question I have is, do you know where I could get a hold of the score to your pieces and if it is published??  I have been unsuccessful in locating these.  I am specifically looking for "Heart\'s on Fire," "Unicron\'s Theme," and "The Training Montage."

Any assistance you could provide would be of great help!!

Thanks,
George

Hi George,

Thanks for your message and kind words.

Regarding your request for the specific pieces of music you mentioned, the ROCKY IV stuff should be fairly easy to locate since it was released officially on the original soundtrack (there was another compilation released years later called the "Rocky Story" and some of the pieces you mentioned appear on that collection as well).  Regarding Unicron\'s Theme from my TRANSFORMERS score, a company called BotCon released a version of that piece (as well as most of the remainder of my score) some years ago but I\'m pretty sure they\'ve been sold out for quite some time unfortunately.

I talked about gear elsewhere on this site so please refer to those posts for that information.

Hope this helps.  Thanks again.

Hi Vince

First-off, I would like to say how thrilled I am to see you posting on this forum. It is very seldom we see our fave artists taking the time out to \'look after\' the interest and curiosities of their fans. Thank you so much.

I havent posted here for while, but I have been in touch with Travis on the odd occasion enquiring about your music. He has been very helpful in answering my questions.
I absolutely love your music (since Rocky IV days), and have purchased 3 of your releases here, namely Piano Solos, In-VINCE-ible, and Falling Off A Clef.

I have myself enquired about your Rocky IV underscores some time back, and am pleased to see so many others also showing an interest in them. It is obvious that your production on Rocky IV has had a major impact on setting standards for the marrying of power, emotion, and music scores.

Just so you also know, you have tons of fans out my way (Cape Town, South Africa), and if your licensing endeavours for the Rocky IV underscore is in any way dependent on demand and following, I hope that this note can contribute in some way to making it easier to secure the rights.

Good luck, and thanks once again for your tremendously inspiring music.

Best Regards
Roger

Hello Roger,

It\'s messages like yours that help keep up my enthusiasm for staying in the music business!  It is really encouraging when we as artists hear that our work has been inspirational to those in different parts of the world.  Thank you so much for your kind words.  I remain on the lookout for ways to make my ROCKY IV score available.  As I\'ve mentioned in the past, if that ever comes to pass I\'ll be sure and post a notification here.

Thanks again, Roger.

Cordially,
Vince

If you do not own the rights to the recordings, do you still own the rights to the original compositions?  If so, have you ever thought about doing what Lalo Schifrin did with his original Amityville Horror soundtrack and re-recording the score for a commercial release?  People seem to be pretty hot for the full Rocky IV score, and with the final Rocky film coming up and all it\'s hype, it seems to be an ideal time to take advantage of the situation.

Hi Vince!

Amazing work, as always. Particularly like the ending.

Hey , Vince , it would be possible to release extended version of "War" from Rocky ? On the soundtrack we have only "normal" version , in the movie this song is longer and its mixed very nicely... also tune when Drago standing before fight with Apollo and Nicolai  shouting order , what is this ? Its fantastic !
Or when drago stands with wife , trainer and reporters when he "entered" his punching power.
Is it yours ? :)

Actually, Mr. DiCola, the versions of "Training Montage" and "Heart\'s On Fire" from the released Rocky albums aren\'t the same as the versions used in the film. What\'s the reason behind this? Why were those put out instead? The real movie versions are much cooler than the alternates.

I was watching the movie again this weekend, just to hear those versions. I love them, esp. the training montage intro and the hearts of fire outro. true classics, one of the finest music pieces EVER!

happy new year, Vince!
