Vince DiCola

Hello to all my fans who frequent this message board and my web site,

I wanted all of you to know that after many years of seeking ways to accomplish this on my own, another entity has finally stepped up to plate with the resources and the passion to tackle all the business issues associated with obtaining \'official\' clearance to release this collection.  The master tapes have been sitting in a vault at SONY MUSIC (the are the official copyright owners) for many, many years now, but thanks to INTRADA there is finally a high-quality CD version of my entire ROCKY IV score, plus one surprise goodie that actually starts the collection off quite nicely in my humble opinion (previously unreleased track).  The executive producer and president of Intrada eagerly invited and welcomed my input on the project, and he and his staff worked very hard to make sure I was completely satisfied with the final result in every way, and I can happily report that they exceeded my expectations in every department.

SO......

Once again, I am very happy to announce that my ROCKY IV instrumental score is finally available on CD in its entirety!  Be forewarned, however...  The actual playing time is a bit on the short side, but every piece of music of mine that\'s in the movie is on this disc, and the film required no more music than this, especially considering all the pop songs that were included in the movie (no songs on this new release, however).

Here\'s where to go to get the disc:
www.intrada.com

I told the the head of Intrada that I have fans who have been patiently and eagerly waiting and hoping for this day to come for a long time, and I told him he can count on my fans to step up to the plate just like he did!  I\'d love to hear from those who care to share comments.  Even though this project happened a long time ago, I will always care about what people think of the music and whether or not it has withstood the test of time, as they say.

Thanks for everyone\'s patience and understanding.  And please know that I myself was terribly frustrated and discouraged by all the legal roadblocks I came across.  I wanted to be in a position to make an announcement of this nature years ago.  However, it\'s here now and that\'s all that matters today, right?!  I hope the majority of you will feel the wait has been worth it once you have the final product in hand.  Hope you enjoy!

Hi Vince, this really is great news indeed!
(In fact, I\'ve already started a thread about it, ha ;))

You\'re right, it\'s been a long wait but one that has now finally come to an end, I can\'t wait to hear an authentic Vince DiCola \'Theme from Rocky\', the samples sound fantastic!
It\'s great to know that Intrada welcomed your input which makes this release even sweeter especially knowing how you\'ve also been eager for this score to see the light of day.

The running time isn\'t an issue and for me at least and I\'m sure there\'ll be many fans who\'ll make playlists combining the previously released songs from Rocky IV .....I think the gyms of the world don\'t know what\'s in store for them!

It\'s always an odd sensation when a wait like this comes to an end and more so for you I\'m sure but that isn\'t worth thinking about anymore as the score is finally here.
Fingers crossed that one of these labels may at some point be in a position to release a comprehensive collection of all your \'Transformers\' material as many fans have missed out on some of the previous limited edition versions.

Your work as an artist goes way beyond just \'Rocky IV\' and \'Transformers\' but it would be a lie to say that they aren\'t two very important additions to the world of film music and it\'s great that you are also still very proud of that work.

Cheers Vince, I\'m so delighted that this release has finally happened and I hope that you too feel very satisfied knowing how happy this will make many music lovers.

All the best,
Ste.

Hi Vince, I think steb74 pretty much covered most fans thoughts regarding this score and its release. A true soundtrack grail from my childhood...

Certainly surprised it has been finally released seeming other labels failed and in such superb quality, which is nothing new for Intrada, they are one of the best in the game!

Congrats and thanks for the music!

P.S Would it be possible to send the booklet to yourself for autographing?

Mantisaur

Thanks for the kind words, Vince!

I am so happy for you and all the fans out there who have been waiting for that day. It was really a pleasant surprise and I immediately ordered a copy of it. I cannot wait to have this score in my hands.

You and Intrada made a lot of people out there very happy!

I hope all is well over there and keep up your hard work!

THANK YOU!

Hi Vince, I was hoping you might be able to shed a little light on something a few fans are talking about regarding this new release.

The track \'War\' appears to have a dominant synth lead line missing from the Intrada sample.
Was this a creative decision on your part?

I must admit, I think that I prefer it this way, as to me it now seems to partner up with the \'Training Montage\' a little better, stylistically at least ....and of course, only in my opinion.
Any thoughts that you may be willing to share on this would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Ste.

Vince,
Congratulations on the release of your Rocky IV score! I have been waiting for this ever since I was a little kid. Rocky IV was the first movie I ever saw in theaters; when I was 4 years old. It is one of my earliest memories. I love the CD.
In response to steb74\'s post above: yes, I notice that a synth line is missing from "War". I really thought that this contributed greatly to the song. It gave it that extra "punch". Is there any chance you could perhaps post this version, with the extra synth line? Or maybe release it as a single available for purchase from iTunes or Amazon?
Excellent job on the music, and congrats again. I hope it sells well. This has been in demand for quite some time.

Cool!  Hope this is a sign of things to come (hint....hint....Transformers The Movie score....)

I can\'t wait to pick up a copy but I was wondering if the movie ("definitive") version of "Hearts on Fire" with Vince\'s awesome synthesizer "outro" is (or will be) available anytime in the near future?  I found it posted on imeem website awhile ago but it\'s since been removed/can\'t find it.  I\'d love to have that version of the song.

Please Vince...for the love of all that\'s holy and good in this world, PLEASE make available the original film version of WAR with the extra synth. Although I love the original release, I was a little disappointed that this track wasn\'t the "film" version.

Or, if that isn\'t possible, please shed some light on what happened to the original track. Thank you.

And butlerd...although Hearts on Fire isn\'t on this album, the outro is. :-)

Cool!  Thanks for the tip!  What track is it supposed to be?

QuoteCool!  Thanks for the tip!  What track is it supposed to be?

It is track 10, Up The Mountain. It is pretty easy to merge the two tracks together to get a film version of Hearts on Fire, already done mine!

butlerd

Thanks for the suggestion.  I\'ll give it a try.  BTW what software did you use to splice the two tracks together?
I just got the CD and am REALLY enjoying it!  My favorite tracks are "Apollo\'s Death And Funeral" and "Up The Mountain".  I also like the movie score versions of "War" and "Training Montage", as well as Vince\'s arrangement of the "Theme from Rocky" that opens up the album.  Great job, Vince!!!  Hope Intrada sees fit to eventually re-release your other soundtrack "gem"!

Adobe Soundbooth CS4 but you should be able to do similar with Audacity (which is open source)...
