I think Kickstarter is a bad idea. You are adding a % of your budget into paying Kickstarter, which means you need even more money than you did at the beginning. From what i've seen from kickstarter campaigns, the service is good when you think you'll be able to gain much more money than you need, which easily covers the kickstarer costs while giving a bigger budget to play with. Being realistic, that will not be the case when talking about Axiology. The fan base is loyal but not big, no matter the platform you use.

I've seen a lot of people saying they'll order 1 or 2 copies, that is great to hear, but we dont want this to be a dejavu from A Real Diamond in the Rough repressing. This time we should put our money where our mouths are. Travis should set up a page of it on TDRS as if you were selling the vinyl, but instead you are just pre-ordering it. Essentially, Travis would be making his own kickstarter here on TDRS, and you become an investor. You hope that the goal will be met and you get your product. If after a certain period of time this goal is not met, the money is refunded to you (or most of it, depending if the service Travis uses takes a cut).
It would be the most cost effective method for Travis, that way he saves the money from paying kickstarter. I know it sounds harsh for the user to potentially loose some money, its a harsh reality, but at the end, you are an investor in the project, and they might or not loose money sponsoring it.

Good news, Balloon Cement will be available as a CD in less than two weeks (according to a Pikes email sent to someone else) So keep a look out for it on the Pikes website!  ;D

Im counting up the days ;D

well nubbins and tempbucketdog, I shall tell you, that I listened to Balloon Cement in youtube already, but I haven't brought the album yet. In fact, whenever a new CD comes up, I always see if I can her some song in youtube before deciding if it is worth or not to buy. What's the point of spending $10 - $15 on something you might just listen to once? Unless you are an avid collector, the money aint worth it if that is the case. And I never have seen any legit sources stating statistics and facts about youtube negatively hindering Buckethead album sales. Unless you can convince me other wise I'd say you are typing purely out of emotion of your concern for the bucket, which is good, but to be frank, if it wasn't for the people uploading songs or videos on youtube, I doubt the Bucketehad fan base would be as large as it is now. Without Youtube, there will be no robotpie, there will be no other tdrs members, there will be no other tk members.
I agree with you mostly RP3000. I said in my first post my thoughts about the Internet and buckethead. It's a double edged sword. Prolly more beneficial than anything. But still true fans should not be uploading full songs on YouTube and that's the bottom line. Let the idiots that want attention for their YouTube page do that.

I have no more to say about or to bucketfel, I might as well be talking to a brick wall and that's prolly why nubbins hasn't replied to his comment. It's pointless......and aggravating. Especially the part where he said he "encourages downloading". I don't care what the circumstances are, get a job and work like the rest of us do and spend some cash on the man who changed our musical world, he deserves it. So whatever.

I think i wanted to say something in the same line as robot pie but my language skills are very bad. ;D

Bucketfel, you are talking out of your behind, kid. "It's up to true fans to enjoy the music"? What does that even mean? How is it someone's responsibility to like something? It doesn't even make sense. I know you've come under fire for downloading Bucket's music several times in the past, yet it seems you continue to do so and defend it to boot, so I'm sure nothing I say is going to change your mind or make you get it. The least you could do is just stay quiet about it rather than encourage it, especially since you obviously don't have anything of any substance to say.

I wrote a lot and decided to erase it but i do want to say this. Everyone has their own way to discover music, mine involves hearing the product before i buy it.

As long as you pay the artist for the music you enjoy, how do the order of the variables alter the end result?

Look at your record collection and tell me how many of the albums you have you thoroughly enjoy from start to finish and then tell me how many you dont even play and have been gathering dust in your collection over the years.
I can tell you that i play every single album i have in my collection from start to finish and enjoy every minute of it. (except for Spinal Clock which is an LE and i always wanted one and Green Day's American Idiot. Someone gave me that album i have it purely out of sentimental value) ;D

Also, the album is very good i love the intro track and how it combines elements from Empty Space and Underground Chambers. :)

I do have a bone to pick with what you are saying about me because at the same time i encourage people to download i also encourage them to pay which no one seems to highlight. I find it rather sad that even though i pay for Big B's albums like you i still have to shut up about why i pay for them.

Well, just got to reading all these posts, and...well, ya got to me, and I feel kinda guilty about posting them. I really would take them down, but someone else (Polipoli8) also has all of the songs uploaded to Youtube as well. So even if I take mine down, people could still use the Youtube-MP3 converter and download the songs without paying. I'm sorry  :'(

Not to pour salt in the wound, but.... With in 7 years that album will be downloaded atleast 2-3000 times for free, maybe more... That's roughly $30,000.00 down the drain that big-b was counting on. The Internet has officially f**ked the music industry(unless you're Justin bieber). However, with out the Internet 85% of us bucket-bots would have never have known of buckets existence. So I dunno what to think. Life is cruel, I do know that for sure. But overall I think bucket is pretty happy and he expects this sort of nonsense to happen. It's apart of the music game these days. But it's up to his TRUE fans to help keep that crap to a minimum. Ya dig ?

Its up to true fans to enjoy the music. Only that will help bucket. ;D

Whaaat? So you're saying stolen or not; as long as they are enjoying it that's what will help bucket? I'm sure he's flattered by that sentiment, but his wallet isint!

you dont buy an album as an obligation to the artist. You buy it because you like the music and support the artist for it.

It was released on Itunes last week. I bought all the tracks and uploaded them to Youtube, too. I also sent the Pikes site an email about a physical release, and they told me that it will be released sometime next month.

Thanks, because i heard it in youtube now i will definetly be buying the physical copy ;D

I downloaded it, listened through a few times at work yesterday. I dunno... I'm on the fence about this one. IA and 3ftC are still the stand-outs of the pikes series. So far... The rest are just? Well? I can't get into them. I'm the type of guy that doesn't really appreciate something that has to grow on me. My one exception would be blueprints, I was like wtf :o? First time through. Now I love that friggin album! It's so playful and random! But it works.

After listening to great work such as: PG, EMAC, NTT, GR, ET & BHL2 when I hear stuff that seems quickly thrown together, I just kinda scratch my head and say "whaaat? Really?". But I suppose that's what one would expect from a complete psychotic madman with a bucket on his head ;)

Keep up the great work bucket! I get it, you're nuts and that's why we love ya! You're in good company... If it wasn't for the random, experimental and quirky stuff you do, it just wouldn't be the same, the park would be too linear and predictable. But it's a bloody f***ing mess! Hands, heads and entrails everywhere!! Good times! Im damn proud to be a bot! 8)

I like IA but my problem with it is that is not as original as other Pikes releases. So far my favorite of the series has to be Empty Space, its just so filled with creativity and funky bass lines that i love. Then would come 3FC although i do not consider it part of the series since it was released prior but Ballad of Jerry Mono easily on my top 10 fave tracks ever. Balloon would come right after just because of the weirdly combination between ES and UC and it has its moments, im still growing into it. LUT would be placed fourth just because of the awesomeness of the solos  8) and UC has was too many lasers for my liking but it has its moments ;D

Great, now i have to save for this one and the new Sigur Ros album ;D

Three days ago I bought Cyborg Slunks from Buckethead's Toystore since I had space on my CD shelf for one more album (this makes Cyborg Slunks the 30th Buckethead CD I've bought) which brings me to ask a few questions about the album.

1. First of all, on the website it mentioned something about Cyborg Slunks being a digipac which made me think it would be slimmer than a normal jewel case. Turns out it actually is a jewel case and is slightly too snug for my CD shelf. Was it ever a digipac to begin with, or is there any other reason it says it's a digipac in the toystore?

2. From what I understand, the track titles are Sneak Attack, Reopening Of The Scapula Factory, Infiltration, Aunt Suzie, and A New War Is Underway in that order. However, when I uploaded it onto my iTunes the tracks titles were displayed as Dawn Of The Cyborg, Living Robot Experiment, Atomic Slunk, Space Cadillac, and Congregation Of The Cyborg Slunks in that order. They're both the same tracks, but with different song titles. Why is that? (BTW, Atomic Slunk sounds like it might be a parody of Van Halen's song Atomic Punk)

3. Before I even came here I checked the Wikipedia article on Cyborg Slunks, and it does mention something about the album having a limited edition format with untitled tracks, but other than that it doesn't mention anything else about it. Is the limited edition any different from the regular release in terms of song quality or are they the same?

That's all the questions I have for Cyborg Slunks. Ever since Buckethead albums have been going out of print I've been frantically getting as many as I can get so that I won't get there too late. Haven't yet heard anything from this album. Also, as a sort of side question, does anyone know which Buckethead albums are digipacs? I already know Somewhere Over The Slaughterhouse, Electric Tears, and Electric Sea are all digipacs (The Pike series might or might not count).

1- The original version was in digipack, but it was also a LE at that time. The walbum was later released as a regular album but the case was not the same as the original one. (It stopped being a digipack)

2- The track listing named in the album is correct, the version that appears on itunes are the names that fans gave the LE version. because the original version had untitled names, fans gave them their own (in the same way In Search of The has madeup names).

3- Both versions are exactly the same. I cannot corroborate that because i dont own the LE but ive never heard someone complain about different tracks on both versions. The only LE that has different track versions is 3 Foot Clearance (as far as i know)

I wouldnt know about digipacks. I have Electric Sea and Electric Tears and they are both digipacks (The pikes are all in sleeves). I might be forgetting other albums but thats as best as i can do at the time.

Travis, most of us want this to happen. Here is the solution:

If there isnt any legal mumbo-jumbo to be solved and what you are worried is that when people swear they will buy but eventually dont, simply start a kickstart page.
Ive seen some people use it, mostly youtube figures trying to get funds for bigger projects and even some videogame creators trying to get this directly to fans. Maybe you can start a page there and let us fund the repress. Then you will not have to worry about those who say they will help but eventually dont.

Please look into this page and i hope this helps.
