Travis, if this isn\'t okay to post here, just let me know and I\'ll take it down!  Thanks!

This is just to let anyone who is interested know my website had been updated.  No popup enlarging windows yet but we\'re working on it!  Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks in advance for any help!  I would like to start a website for my writing and artwork.  I just don\'t know how to go about doing that.  Could anybody tell me how to get a webpage and all that?  If so, it would be wonderful!  I really appreciate any help!

I found this article in the paper today!  Thought some of you might be interested.  Do any of you have one near you?

I hadn\'t heard of it but what a neato idea!  Around here, we have community gardens.  You pay ten or twenty dollars to the community extension and get a garden plot.  You plant, tend, and harvest it yourself.  We did it one year and it was really cool.  I wish I had room to do it again!  It was nice having fresh veggies but a pain to drive to the plot every day to gather and all.

This just seems like a good way to use conservation land and such.  Thought you might be interested!

The Star-Spangled Banner
--Francis Scott Key, 1814
O say, can you see, by the dawn\'s early light,
What so proudly we hail\'d at the twilight\'s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro\' the perilous fight,
O\'er the ramparts we watch\'d, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets\' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro\' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O\'er the land of the free and the home of the brave...

In response to the remarks of the President in regards to the translation of the national anthem to Spanish.  I fail to see why this is so blasphemous.  Is it so wrong for the Spanish speaking population to be able to lift their voices, showing respect and love for their country?  If so, then what makes it right for an English speaking person to sing the national anthem for comic effect?  Why does it offend so many, the thought of this song translated into Spanish?  Why not Korean, German, French?  The only native Americans are the Native Americans.  And they didn\'t speak English.  Our country is such a melting pot of cultures, races, and languages.  How can we deny any section of the population the right to give song for their country, regardless of language?  Who are we to deny them that right?  Where is the freedom there?

That\'s my opinion and I look forward to hearing yours.  If this has already been posted somewhere else, my apologies.

Political and Social Discussions / Howard Dean-DNC Chair
February 13, 2005, 05:13:35 pm
Pardon me if you don\'t like the Vermont Screamer but we\'re thrilled he\'s the chair of the DNC.  This is a man who drew so many people together.  It can only be good for the democratic party to come together in the next election!  Hope!

General Discussion / Hey, everyone!
September 11, 2007, 04:26:26 pm
Well, I\'ve been gone a while.  Sorry.  Just had a hard time finding time to get here, I guess.  Looks like there\'s some new tunes to check out and lots of new threads to read.  I\'ve missed the intellectuals here.  LOL!
A lot has been going on around here.  The baby I announced last summer?  He\'s one now!  Hey, how\'d that happen?  LOL!  My little girl is in kindergarten and loving it, dancing, riding our horse, playing soccer (the kid is a super sick player.  just watches each player then goes for it. LOL!), and gearing up for ski team this winter.  My oldest is loving school, field hockey, dancing, getting ready for skiing, but her real love is our horse and training for eventing with her.  We bought Star last November and she is our love.  I wanted this mare for so long and when she came available, my husband couldn\'t say no.  She is truly an Arabian.  Versatile, athletic, sweet, and brave.  Can you tell we love her a bit?  LOL!  She and my oldest are starting two phase eventing.  They compete in dressage and showjumping now then move up eventually to cross country.  It\'s been busy trying to find the right barn situation and trainers and all.  But, we are on our way to a new barn with an indoor to keep up that conditioning.  And, hubby wants to buy it so we\'ll see.
We may have a farm, you all!  There\'s a dream come true.  I took a bonafide city boy and am turning him into a farmer!  LOL!  And it isn\'t at all difficult.  A few well placed "Babe, imagine sitting on the lawn underneath the apple tree, drinking a beer, watching your horses graze and play in the turnout.  Imagine how peaceful it would be after a hard day of work."  And he was hooked.  LOL!
He\'s still working a ton outside the home.  I\'m still working a ton with the kids at home.  Busy, busy!  It\'s good to pop back in!

The baby is here!  He arrives Sunday afternoon.  I wanted to let you all know as I said I would.  LOL!  And, yes, he\'s perfect.  And, yes, he is hardly allowed out of arms.  Off to steal him back from his dad now. LOL!

General Discussion / Why is this necessary?
June 05, 2006, 12:59:37 am
I ask because I have seen a few of these driving around in my area.  :o  And they\'ve never been towing a thing.  So, I ask, why is this necessary?  I even saw one at the grocery store.  It was someone\'s grocery getter.    :o  And I feel guilty about taking my minivan to the grocery store?  :-/

I look forward to your input as to why?

Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.  I have two children, ages 3 and 7.  My 3 year old is in a federally funded preschool and her teacher is saying she needs to be coded now for elementary school.  I know funding will get cut to this program if a certain number of kids aren\'t coded each year.  I\'m torn between if she needs to be coded truly or if she\'s part of the quota.  My seven year old\'s school tells us not to work with her outside of school.  Yet they won\'t let her read at her actual level in school.  It\'s a public school so all of her arts exploration she gets from my husband and myself.  She dances, acts in community theatre, and explores different art mediums with me. (I was supposed to be a fine arts major with a minor in english lit. and writing.  I took a year off after high school and fell in love with the fire service. So now I\'m a very safe stay at home mom. LOL)  She used to play piano (still does sometimes.)  but her teachers last year said it wasn\'t in her best interests.  However, her music teacher at school still wants her to play.  He says vocally and instrumentally, she\'s very strong.  So, I have two opinions that I\'m torn between.  One- that an arts education is unimportant and doesn\'t benefit her academics.  And two- that any sort of art exposure is quite beneficial to academics.  Any advice or links to sites would be great.  Even just opinions.  From the posts I\'ve seen, you all seem intelligent.
Take care and be safe.

General Discussion / Any advice would help
February 26, 2005, 12:19:08 am
Hey anybody and everybody,
Odd post but it\'s me.  What can I say?  My crazy dog chased a skunk under our deck and got sprayed a bit.  I\'ve done tomato juice, vinegar (ripe!), olive oil, lavendar shampoo, etc.  Everything but bleach, it seems. (Yes, some well meaning fool said to use bleach and ammonia.  At the same time.  When I explained about ammonium chloride, they said they use it on their floor every week.)  Sorry, I\'m a bit frustrated.  And please don\'t say the groomers because they said no very quickly and hung up.
Mind, this is very entertaining for my kids.  Little devils!  So, any advice would be great.  My husband may not come home tonight.  Because of the smell.

General Discussion / What\'s going on?

Hey, Has anyone tried to get onto Perceval Press today?  I was just going to order some stuff and it\'s down or something.  Thought Travis might know since the message board is down here, too.
Take care and be safe.

I was wondering about Viggo Mortensen\'s music.  Is it all jazz or a mix of styles? I ordered Please Tomorrow because I heard Moonset, I think it was. Thanks!
