farewell to the incomparable Miriam Makeba - she went the way she envisioned, and that\'s a wonderous thing...

I don\'t think I need to comment... y\'all can think for yourselves.

Gifted man with a strong heart... farewell.

here are detail shots... i just started on the face so no, it\'s not going to have a black eye effect forever.  :)

as my partner said, that must have been one hell of a plinth!  the poor person who submitted must be crushed!

got to be a gas to play with these... i need more time in my life to do all the things that look like fun, damn it!!

you can\'t tell me BH, Travis, et al aren\'t already doing this and having a ball - and if you guys aren\'t, SHAME on yas!!  ;)

I just shipped this off - it was done for afundraising auction for the South Fork Breast Health Coalition - a breast cancer foundation in East Hampton NY.  A group of artists were invited to submit birdhouses - they shipped the birdhouses and we did whatever we wanted with them.

My piece "Harsh Winter" has been at the gallery all summer and is in the Birdhouse Auction Preview opening tomorrow and running through the 21st.  Proceeds from the auction at the close of the show, on the 22nd, will go toward the Southfork Breast Health Coalition.  If you happen to be in the Hamptons head on over - I won\'t be there but about 70 wonderful birdhouses by artists and celebrities from all over the place will be.  If you go to the opening, tell the lovely Karyn Mannix who organized it that I sent you.

Your art, music, projects and links / buying Jesus

I was at the grocery store buying Jesus
I was standing in line at the store buying Jesus
Absolution was the blue light special
But the price was still too high
The price was still too high
The price was remembering
A yellow nightie with a smiling red apple
I was five years too old for it
But it had happy memories
It used to have happy memories
He was a man of God
A friend of Dad's and a
Man of god
And it was ok because
I was nearly a woman
I was 14 and I knew it all
I knew it all because
Well, I was 14
And he was a man
Of god
Women and priests
The keepers of men's secrets
So it was ok
I was at the grocery store buying Jesus
Standing in line at the store buying Jesus
Absolution was the blue light special
But the price was still too high
The price was still too high
The price was remembering
A darkened theatre and I
Making my way to the popcorn
Winding out of the seats to go pee
And get popcorn
His hand was fat and warm
His cock was flaccid and hot
It was ok he said
He was a man of god
And I was an innocent
Children and priests
The keepers of mens' secrets
So it was ok
I was at the grocery store buying Jesus
Standing in line at the store buying Jesus
Absolution was the blue light special
But the price was still too high
The price was still too high
The price was remembering
Telling the truth and being told it wasn't enough
It wasn't enough because the truth
Does not set you free
No, it does not set you free
For once you have told the truth
You have to prove it
It being truth is not enough
Now you have to relive it
You have to face it down
Face the lying man of god
As he says you've got it wrong
As he says you're just trying it on
How can you ruin his life's work?
His reputation
For your small truth that
Meant nothing
Was nothing compared to the work of god
Was simply a secret
Between you and a man of god
Victims and priests
Keepers of gods' secrets
So it was ok
To be standing on the corner
Buying Jesus
Because Absolution
Is still too high

yeah, it seems the water glows like a toxic pool... i\'m working to tone that down.

Second in the series of broken dolls...

"ARC" will likely not mean much to anyone who isn\'t involved in fine art but they are a somewhat powerful group headed by Fred Ross.  He has begun a power play against an artist I am acquainted with named Miles Mathis and Mr. Ross\' method of doing so has crossed the legal line.

This outrages me in both artistic and journalistic terms. As they say, if power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.  ARC is exhibiting absolute power corruption.

this is my current work in progress... 30x40 oil on canvas.  this is the first in a series of dolls i planned a year ago but finally got a start on.  second detail shot is for color because i use a crappy digital camera.  do not adjust your sets - the face is the main part still in progress at right now.
