Pikes #8, #9, and #10!!

just wondering if there was a discussion about these wedges?

I just got them, I have near 100 listens on Shores of Molokai but still haven't fully digested that one, it's a great album. I opened Racks - man just blown away!!! GAWD I LOVE BUCKETHEAD! I wont even open #9 or #10 for a while, I'll be listening to Racks for a while. That last track, the Patrolman, puts a huge bulge in my pants everytime I listen. It's a vey moving track for me. Coffin for a Penny, Sunbursts are pretty awesome as well. I had alot of fun with Castle of Dr Cadaver & Spiderwall (that's just classic BH noodling), made some K-A ringtones. There is not one song I dislike on this cd, overall I think it is his best of the year (considering I haven't listened to 9 or 10 yet). On a scale of 10 - Racks gets 9 quacks.

I have to say that I like the last three Pikes a lot! Look Up There was great, but only had two tracks. Underground Chamber and Balloon Cement were very experimental, not exactly easy to consume. The Shores of Molokai is quite cool, but a bit too much electronica for my personal taste. Now Racks, March of the Slunks and The Silent Picture Book are really excellent thoroughly. I can't really see them as separate albums, not only because they were released at the same time, but also because their sound/feeling is pretty similar. Usually I play all three in sequence. If you like Racks, you will love the other two too! Fortunately the style is very versatile and the songs seem much more polished this time. The rate of outstanding songs certainly is above average. Currently my favorites include "Sunbursts", "Magellan's Maze", "Malbert's Strut" and "Blind Cyclops". The latter one might be my favorite track of all Pikes so far...

re your comment about Molokai being too electronic.  I can understand why you say that but I really love it.  I'm very much into metal, but don't feel it's too electronic for me.  Blind Cyclops is probably also my favourite.  It's got something really special about it

Didn't want to imply the album is not good. It's just my personal taste. I simply like his more progressive/emotional songs best, which is not what you get on the Shores.

Of course it would be boring if all albums had the same/similar style, so they all are great the way the are

ok now I'm itchin,  there is no good reason to hold off on listening to 9 and 10 i guess. I am totally loving the laser beams and stuff, Henry's new home and smile without a face are standouts for me but I am really loving all of Shores, then Racks comes and it raises the bar a bit, and you say tSPB and MotS are just as good - man, seems like everyday is christmas in Bucketheadland.

I personally love #7 the most right now... I find it more metal throughout the whole disc! 
I took 8,9, and 10 and made 2 CDs from them:  A heavy one and a chill one.  I cant stop listening to the heaviness!  I wish I could point out my favorite songs but with the songs on random and the fact that I'm driving makes it difficult to name them.   

Going back and listening to the other pikes I feel kinda bad that I wasn't into them much... because now I just love them all the more!

I just love Balloon Cement so much even though its so intense from start to finish... I kinda look at it as another Cobra Strike or a Somewhere Over the Slaughterhouse!

CANT WAIT FOR MORE PIKES!  MONTY RULES! oh... so does Buckethead I guess. lol

ok - finally got a few spins on 9 & 10, both are awesome!
^^yep - that's a great song but I think my favorite on pikes 10 is ropelight, i wish it was a bit longer.

I got the only thing I asked for this year, which was pikes 6-10. I've said it before, but I have to say it again; I absolutely love how every Buckethead CD I've gotten from the direct source has been packaged so well that it never comes with any signs of damage and all comes together at once.

They are "real" (pressed, silver) discs, not CD-R. And they ship in a paper sleeve.
