Damn, I\'m so excited about my new acoustic. I wasn\'t even planning on buying one today until i started to play a Takamine G Series and i fell in love with it. The Sound was just warm right up with a Taylor in my opinion.

This i thought was a great buy. It was $188 before tax and About $201 after tax. The guy at Guitar Center told me it had a factory lifetime warranty on it. The reason it was so cheap was it has this what i would call a minor ship in the body, i actually didnt notice it until he pointed it out. you can see it in this picture, its right up against the neck where it meets the body.

I asked the guy how that happened, like use and abused or factory mishap or what. He said it could have been a factory mishap of they might have ran out of humidifier in the acoustic room.

Long story short its got me kinda worried about it worsening over time. It also has a small little crack here too.

Over all i think it was a great buy, sounded great, action was ace perfect, and the price was just to good to pass up.

Which leads me to a question. Should i worry about buying a humidifier to help keep the guitar in good shape? I had an old cheapo acoustic that was bought at best buy and i didnt even think to do anything like this to that one. but it was cheap though so it want like the perfect guitar.

If so what should i look into buying for my Takamine?

I did look at some humidifiers that you put inside the body of the guitar and i thought that was a bit too excessive, since its going to be sitting on a stand when not in use until i buy a case for it. Im not planning on any gigs so its mainly going to stay in my room.

any advice would be great.

thanks!

As far as the neck goes if it doesn\'t affect the sound atm then i think it will be okay if you treat her gently since it was classified as \'minor\'. I think you\'ll be fine w/o the dehumidifier unless you live in an area with really brutal weather that changes super fast and what not.  But what do I know, there\'s probably someone on here that know better than I do. It is a nice lookn guitar though.

Thanks for the advice. The chip wasnt really all that bad in my opinion. Maybe they were just trying to get more money out of me by buying the $50 2 year warranty, when already it has a manufacture warranty. haha

A bot of mine has a Takamine G series and it sings oh so pretty. Congrats on the new member of your musical family.   :)

I got me a new gee-tar a couple months back - cool story... I had this old Fender Gemini acoustic that I hated, also has a Washburn acoustic that a friend gave me for $100, and a beat up \'92 Fender precision bass that I bought at a yard sale for $8 (it was marked $10 but I haggled anyway) it had no strings and I never played it. Took them all to the local music shop and traded them for this beauty:

a brand spankin\' new Martin DX1R, I love this guitar!!!

I\'ll be sure to post a song or two. I need a little advice first - I want to record me playing but audio only not a video. Then I want to upload the music to my computer and make a video with pictures I have. I have the video making software but what is the best way to digitally record my music and save it on my p/c? Can I just buy a webcam with a microphone and record sound without video? or should I get a usb microphone? Keep in mind I don\'t have alot of money to spend. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated - Thanks!

Duckhead, as promised from someplace else.

I have a Zoom MRS 802b this is what I have been making my magic on for the past six or seven years (gwad?! wow that long already)It cost me a pretty penny but uhm its a whole hekk of lot better then my first set up was a chair an amp and a piss poor computer microphone and whole world of room and apartment noise in a monophonic blast which would probably be categorized lo-fi.

here is the link to Zoom (Travis is this ok?)

http://www.samsontech.com/products/brandpage.cfm?brandID=4

also use Audio Technica Pro31 Microphone and some cheap Radio Shack Microphones.

I also am in a custodial ownership of my Dad\'s Acoustic 12 String Martin, now I cannot play anything else because the Martin ruined me the locals have some sweet Yamaha\'s but, nothing compares to that Martin.

This is my guitar.

It isn\'t new.  I\'ve had it for about 12 years or so.  I haven\'t played it in probably about 11 and totally forget just about everything except how to plunk a few strings.  Sometimes I feel guilty that I even have it.  It was custom made by this guy
http://www.bluettbros-violins.com/index.shtml
and given to me as a gift by a friend who was about 90 at the time.  The guitar literally walked out of my head and into the world.  I still really like the sound of it.

You may notice that it\'s a left handed guitar.  I\'m pretty ambidextrous.  Some things feel more natural to me left handed and guitar playing is one of them, although it\'s all air guitar nowadays.

I brought that guitar into my meditation room to take it\'s picture and it likes it in there, so it\'s gonna hang out in there.  That\'s the least I can do for it.  I\'m just not a musician.

I also have a left handed electric guitar.  I think the body might be a Fender Stratocaster.  It\'s purple and white.  But the top part where the strings screw in is different.  I think I remember the guy who sold it to me saying something about that, but technical jargon goes right over my head.

I think I\'ll put both of them in my meditation room.  It was really fun digging into my guitar stuff.  So, thanks.
