that little link takes you to a site that will show you who has the cheapest gas prices in your area, based on your zip code.  it works, i\'ve used it.  reward those keeping the prices down - buy only from them.  that way the rest MIGHT learn that they can\'t gouge us for their bloody oil war.

oh honey, Citgo is based in Houston TX, so you tell me?  the company IS a wholly owned subsidiary of a company out of Venezuela, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., but if they are capitalizing on the war by raising their prices right along with everyone else, i tend to think of that as even worse in a sense, though better in another.  it\'s up to you guys, just do what you feel is the right thing...

      How timely this topic is.  I just received an e-mail (spam) requesting a ban on Citgo gas, because they are owned by Venezuela government.  The leader of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, announced to his citizens "Enough of imperialist aggression; we must tell the world: down with the U.S. empire. We have to bury imperialism this century."  So now we are all suppose to be pissed at Citgo because they want to topple the American Government.  Where have I heard that before - Oh I remember it that pesky toppling of the Iraq government.  It's ok for us to do it cause we are the good guys!
      Well the truth is: Citgo is based in Houston, Texas.  The Venezuelan government does in fact own Citgo (kinda.)  The company is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.  The crude oil that Venezuela refines comes from Bolivia.  And finally you would be a fool to think that Hugo Chavez has the world's best interest in mind.  We all know OPEC and George do!
      The final truth: there is no way to know where the crude oil in your tank right now came from.  Here in Texas the pump jacks can't go fast enough and they can't drop new wells quick enough.  There is also no way to know who refined the crude oil due to logistics.  So 'gkg' is right buy the cheapest ALSO, keep your engine clean, and change your oil every 3000 miles or three months.  OR better yet buy a diesel engine vehicle and for about $200.00 convert it to bio-diesel.  Run your car or truck on Chinese take out - cost 0 dollars.  Toppling of a government - priceless.

Me too!!!  But before the preverbal sh_t hit the fan I bought a truck -- oh what I wouldn\'t give now...  I am looking at a motorcycle to cut down on gas consumption though.  Unfortunately, they don\'t make those in diesel.

motorcycle is a good step, but be safe and wear the helmet etc.

they had a thing on the news this morning about three cars that are driving up the east coast - from Miami to Boston on 95 - they\'ve made it up to Stamford Connecticut so far.  a Prius, an Accord and an Expedition.  the Prius had spent $103+ for gas since Miami, the Accord $123+, the Expedition (which are all OVER California for some damn reason) had spent $258+ for gas at that point.  can you imagine?

no one on this planet will make me believe that all the people who drive SUVs actually NEED a vehicle that large and wasteful.  nope.  i see too many of them empty day in and day out save the driver and maybe one other person.  they commute with those things, they go get milk at the Safeway in those things - they do all sorts of little piddly driving that you do NOT need an SUV for.  all because once a week they load 4 kids plus gear to go play football or baseball or whatever.

Here in Texas it\'s the Hummer!  11 miles to the gallon!?  WHY ON GOD\'S GREEN EARTH DO YOU NEED A HUMMER!!?

We are looking to buy a truck.  Mainly to pull a horse trailer. LOL!  Ever try to buy a truck based on gas mileage?  Don\'t believe the sticker either. Drive the truck and do the math yourself.  Otherwise, you\'ll probably get taken for a ride at the pump.  The good news is most trucks now get more miles to the gallon than my minivan. Go figure!  We\'re hoping we can find something suitable especially as it will have to haul a horse, two large ponies, and a little pony across a state and a half when we move!  Won\'t that be fun?  LOL!

If it helps my Dodge Dakota gets 19 to 20 miles to the gallon highway.  Sometimes, if I am really lucky, it gets 22 MPG if I don't use the air conditioner.  I do a lot (and I mean a lot) of highway driving which also makes a difference.  I am pretty sure it will pull a horse trailer and horses, but I only hold paint and ladders.  My Dad's Ford F150 gets 14 MPG he drives mostly city.  Good luck, I hope your move goes well.    

I do drive a diesel (a small VW) but it isn\'t as good a cost break as it used to be. Diesel & gas prices are pretty much at par. Of course, diesel is more efficient, so a tank goes further. Also less atmospheric pollution, although a bit more at ground level. Hey, VW\'s are not all THAT expensive! Much more practical than suburban assault vehicles, too! And they\'re assembled in Mexico, so good for free trade  ...keep more of the money & jobs in North America rather than Asia or Europe...wish we had a plant or 2 up here though    As for biodiesel, when it\'s more readily available I\'ll think of a special conversion. Until then, I think you can use it part of the time without hurting the engine.
