Travis, I was wondering if you could maybe tell us what gear you have in your studio i.e. what are your favorite pianos/synths in your collection? Also are your instruments all hardware or do you use softsynths as well?

gb714us

From what I know.. He uses moog synths, a hammond b3 organ, hammond c2, fender rhodes, yamaha cp-80 there\'s more though.

^^yup some of that\'s been posted on the Thanatopsis info pages ;)

My Current set up is:

Prophet 08
Roland SH202
Alesis Andromeda
The SE Electronics Mini Moog
Hammond 1954 B3 and Leslie 122
Hammond C2 that I customized and a Leslie I made for it.
Yamaha acoustic piano
Yamaha Electric Grand CP80
Fender Rhodes suitcase

For midi work, I use a kurzweil PC88

A lot of the same stuff from the Thanatopsis page. But  I\'ve been using the Roland and Prophet a lot. The Alesis belongs to Vince DiCola but it\'s here in the studio and was used on Iconography and a little on the record Vince and I are currently working on.

My favorite is probably the B3, but I use whats right for the part I\'m working on, so the favorite would be the one that works for the part.

I prefer hardware synths and really don\'t use the software stuff I have unless it\'s an FX or some strings sounds, though I like to replace those with Cameron Stone when I can get him to do that.

If your really keyboard geeky, heres some photos of my C2. It belonged to the Guess Who. The top photo is "before" and the rest are in progress. Note the guitar picks I found after rebuilding the manuals.

Travis,
Regarding the Hammond - is the Peavey head used for amplification?

Also which tracks feature this fine example of an instrument?

In "What the hell was that?" from Left Hanging I can hear a Leslie cabinet, which sounds great by the way. My guess would be that it\'s this keyboard, but I could be wrong.

Yes, the Peavy is used for the custom Leslie.

On the Left Hanging stuff, thats my B3 and Leslie 122. I bought the Leslie years ago from Bob Dylan. It came in a great road case from the Holy Roller tour. Here\'s a pic:

And the the road case:

I have some more pics, they may tax your browser but...

Here\'s the B3 and Fender Piano with the Andromeda on top in the control room:
