Hey guys. Im a big Buckethead fan and have been for a while now but I haven\'t got round to hearing all of his records, mainly some of the lesser known ones.
Just looking for some small reviews on the following;

The day of the robot
Forensic Follies
Needle in slunkstack
funnel weaver
any of the dck stuff
and any other stuff he did with Shin Terai or praxis reccomendations.

cheers  8)

Boxenstien

imo they\'re all amazing albums, thats just me though, especially for follies and needle, thats definitely just me  ;D

is there any Praxis stuff thats much to the likes of the track "the interworld and the new innocence"?

DCK\'s Dreamatorium is a sonic journey that will have you submerged in shadows one minute (Land of the Lost), walking along the edge of the universe the next (Maps of Impossible Worlds), experiencing your soul being harvested by demented slunks (Terror By Night), and being plunged back in to the abyss (Dark Hood). Maggot Dream is one of Bucket...ehhem...Death Cube K\'s finest accoustic ballads. The album is like a H.P. Lovecraft novel soundtrack. Highly recommended.
Some days, it's a good day to die. And some days, it's a good day to have breakfast.

Day of the Robot is awesome. Great compositions, very well produced. Must have, but hard to find and expensive when you do. Heavy, and techno beats.

Follies and Slunkstack... meh... you\'re likely to be dissapointed. Cutups, remixes, re-edits, recontextualization of previous broken shards and wedges.

Funnel Weaver is weird...and under listened to by myself personally. I need to go back and remind myself of its uniqueness before further review.

All the DCK stuff is like a dark dreary ambient score to the movie of your nightmares.

Shin Terai is drum and bass dubby type stuff. Great music, but buckethead is just one of many players in this group and takes more of a supporting role. Still plays awesome though.

Praxis\' stuff tends to sound different from album to album. Its more of a jam band, very heavy, ranging many genres, mostly instrumental except for Profanation. Any buckethand fan should own every Praxis album except for 1984 and Mold. Some of the boy\'s best work.

I would try more to give some unbiased reviews. I\'m reading your post and have different opinions than you on those albums. I don\'t like DOTR much. I understand other people may so I wont just say "don\'t get it, it\'s bad". I\'m more likely to explain what the album is actually like and include the reasons why I don\'t like it.

You said that it\'s opinion at the bottom of your post, but earlier you influenced a bot poorly. I mean, he may really like FF.

The Day of the Robot: A hard-to-get 5-piece drum and bass wedges filled with slunkalicious guitar riffs and solos.

Forensic Follies: Former Bucket Binge Shards mixed together to form new wedges, his first take on auditory plastination.

Needle in a Slunk Stack: His second try on auditory plastination, however, dosed with new drum tracks.

DCK: Buckethead\'s nightmares

Shin Terai and Praxis: Gotta spend more time hearin em\'.

Keep in mind, everyone has different tastes. What\'s awesome for some may be not so awesome for you.

Do your homework, or take a gamble....i tend to go for the latter. :)

Good luck...I KNOW you will find something you like!

Maggot Dream by DCK is amazing. Is the majority of DCK\'s stuff more...Nightmare sounding or is there some gems like this on other albums?

if you haven\'t already, make sure to listen to all three Thanatopsis albums. I just started appreciating how good those are.
Buckethead's music has changed my life for the better, and for that I am forever grateful.

Excuse me.

It is interesting that other than whining about my post, you have yet to actually post your review or opinion. Perhaps if you had, kevindanielcahill could be exposed to both opinions and then decide for themselves which one to put stock in. If you want to "try more to give some unbiased reviews," then by all means go for it. In the meantime, please try to refrain from telling me how to write. BTW, if you go back and read my post, I did in fact "explain what the album is actually like."

Description is in bold

I take exeption to your quoted line "don\'t get it, it\'s bad". I certainly hope you are not attributing that to me, as I did not write that. I realize you might have been making a generalization, but it comes off as if you are attributing that attitude to me. If so , that is mis-interpretation on your part.

Sorry, to me your post came off as "don\'t get it it\'s bad". And im so sick of people saying that or things like "these are the good Buckethead albums, don\'t get anything else." Keep in mind, that\'s not an exact quote from anyone, it\'s just the type of thing some people say.

I don\'t like DotR much. There\'s not a lot of guitar playing and when there is, it\'s noodling. If you enjoy drums and bass or electronic, you may like it.

I don\'t really know what to think about FF. I thought it was really cool at first, but now it\'s hard for me to listen to. Quite simply saying something along the lines of "It\'s reconstructed tracks" isn\'t going to make the reader go "oh! I would like it" if he or she is not familiar with that style at all.

FF and needle are really hard to describe as no other albums share the same style. Take clips from riffs off wedges such as SOTP, IM, CSS, and EMAC, and recycle them to create the insanity. FF includes lots of the screechy parts from SOTP and IOLM, which might annoy you. These rides are very jarring and unpredictable.

If somen asked me for a recommendation, I would tell them to get all of fbm eventually and mention that IM is my favorite, but also the fact that they might not like IM. I understand that ME liking music doesn\'t make it good and that people have different tastes. That\'s why recommending Bucket albums is weird.. Well that and his large, diverse collection.
