A desire to memorialize his heroes -- including James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist Garry Shider and jazz legends such as Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis -- drove Bootsy Collins to make "Tha Funk Capitol of the World," his first new album in five years.

"In 2008 we went out and did a tribute to James Brown tour with...as many of the JBs together as I could," the iconic bassist and bandleader, who\'s worked with Brown as well as Parliament-Funkadelic and his own Rubber Band, tells Billboard.com. "That really got me thinking about all these great cats who are no longer around and how people are just forgetting about them, and the music is becoming so watered down now. We\'re forgetting the ones that really opened the door. Since I\'m still here, I really wanted to connect those dots...so young people can see that what they think is so new isn\'t so new."

The full track listing for "The Funk Capitol of the World" includes:

1. "Intro"
2. "Hip Hop @ Funk U" (ft. Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, & Chuck D)
3. "Mirrors Tell Lies (ft. Jimi Hendrix)
4. "JB-Still the Man" (ft. Rev. Al Sharpton)
5. "Freedumb" (ft. Dr. Cornel West)
6. "After These Messages" (ft. Samuel L. Jackson)
7. "Kool Whip" (ft. Phil Ade & iCandice)
8. "The Real Deal" (ft. Sheila E. & iCandice)
9. "Don\'t Take My Funk" (ft. Catfish Collins & Bobby Womack)
10. "If Looks Could Kill" (ft. Bela Fleck, Zionplanet-10, & Dennis Chambers)
11. "Minds Under Construction" (ft. Buckethead & (Z-Class))
12. "Siento Bombo" (ft. Olvido Ruiz & Ouiwey)
13. "Garry Shider Tribute" (ft. George Clinton & Linda Shider)
14. "Stars Have No Names (They Just Shine)" (ft. Nick Arnold & Chrissy Dunn)
15. "Chocolate Caramel Angel" (ft. Faith Daniels, Ronnie Racket, & Casper)
16. "Yummy, I Got the Munchies" (ft. Musiq Soulchild, Razzberry Hershey & Tom Joyner)

Bootsy Collins himself yesterday not only sent birthday greetings through his Twitter account, but also spread the news about Buckethead\'s current state:

Travis, please, keep us update.

Best wishes from Germany!

Don\'t believe? Just ask him for detail photos and you will get blocked from bidding.  :P

It took way longer  to finish this interview than I first thought but now it\'s ready.

Business as usual: Entry words in German, interview in English:

In case you missed:

The Pick Up Mega Pack 2DVD+CD+Comic yesterday arrived and Track 6 of the soundtrack has some very familiar piano playing on it. I could swear Travis has something to do with it...  ;D

It took a bit longer for Giacomo to answer my questions than I first thought but now I got his response. He\'s actually kinda Radar from M*A*S*H, answering questions before I even asked, but well...

There\'s some background info about DCK, that you not might wanna miss I bet.

There\'s also lots of videos of the artists, about all I could find at YouTube.

You will have to fly over a German lead-in, but the interview is in plain f*ck*n\' English for your pleasure - see what Italian and German guys do for ya.  :-/

December issues of both, Bass Player (US) and Guitar & Bass Magazine (UK) feature interviews with Bill Laswell. They focus on his project named Method of Defiance, which Buckethead contributed to earlier. Bill praises our boy especially in G&B and tells the story of him (Bill) working with the Limbomaniacs and getting a Buckethead video tape by Limbo\'s drummer. This drummer btw. was called Brain. Bill\'s mission was to give the tape to Bootsy who BH was a big fan of. Bill did with some sort of delay I guess. Then came Praxis and the rest is history...

Or read about it on my blog, if you speak German. ;-)

Hey girls,

have you ever heard about Travis from Travis Dickerson Recording Studios?
Well, anyway, he\'s an amazing guy and has worked with some most awesomely creatures - ehm, artists.

I was lucky enough to make an interview with him and it\'s online right now.

Rules are the same as they were before with the RareNoise interview:
Prologue in German, then the full interview in Russian - eh, wait - what\'s this language called? Spanish? Turkish? Oh, English, yes, thank you.

Take care and have fun! ;-)

I monitor NTTs on eBay for about two years now and there\'s much too many NTTs from Singapore the last few months. It\'s from different accounts, but the most recent auction here is from one who already sold a copy before:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270397499373

There\'s already two threads in the WhiteWash section of .TK, but I think losing about 300 bucks on a fake copy from Asia is reason enough to make a thread here as well.

http://bucketheadland.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=whitewash&action=display&thread=17209

http://bucketheadland.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=whitewash&action=display&thread=18505

So it looks like they have lots of copies and contact other bidders to disguise some deals. And they have time. There are large gaps between auctions, but not large enough if you try to monitor EVERY auction. The thing that makes me wonder most, is that they\'re only acting on eBay - at least I didn\'t see anything at other portals (e.g. Discogs).

If you have any further evidence, share it!

There was one on eBay recently. It didn\'t sell.

Looks like a possible Avabella release, but since Jas has denied to release any further stuff due to illegal downloads and filesharing etc. I highly doubt it will happen anytime in the near future.

Hey, Travis! When will this be available at the shop? Is there any chance, the non-US pals\'n\'gals could get this a bit earlier? ;-)

Hello?

Pictures big enough for all legal purposes can be found easily on the internets.

Just ordered them, hoping they\'ll arrive right before X-mas. Nice shop update btw!

In case you don\'t know the Dr. Pepper story:

Dr. Pepper is imploring Axl Rose to put out his album that\'s been an astounding 17 years in the making. The creators of the curiously candy-like beverage have promised that if Rose releases Guns N\' Roses\' \'Chinese Democracy\' at any point in 2008, everyone in America will receive a free can of Dr. Pepper.

But free soda aside, the best part about the proposal might just be the way the company is not only relating to, but sympathizing with, the 46-year-old singer. "It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper\'s special mix of 23 ingredients that our fans have come to know and love," said Jaxie Alt, director of marketing for Dr. Pepper -- not even blinking at her nod to the band\'s 1989 hit \'Patience.\' "So we completely understand and empathize with Axl\'s quest for perfection -- for something more than the average album." What\'s more? The "everyone" in their promise comes with a big, wickedly funny asterisk: According to the Dr., both Slash and Buckethead will be left off the gift list. Bet they didn\'t see that coming.

http://www.spinner.com/2008/03/25/dr-pepper-to-give-away-free-product-if-axl-rose-releases-chine/

Axl confirmed the following:

"We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album "Chinese Democracy," as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead\'s performances are on our album, I\'ll share my Dr Pepper with him.

Axl Rose"

At TK someone pointed out, the five CDs of Monolith could meant to be combined to one track like "Zaireeka", an album by The Flaming Lips (see Wikipedia for more information on that). Nobody on TK seemed to doubt it.
So now, that I combined the tracks in Cubase and listened to it several times I\'m quite sure that this is the actual album. The title "Monolith" alone is good evidence to me.

Travis, can you confirm this? And when will the 5.1 DVD go on sale? ;D

ps:
Of course, it would be more fun to put up five stereos to have a full surround experience and I may try this soon...

I just requested an own Buckethead wiki on wikia.com with the plan of starting a two language (English & German) wiki about our guy and written for fans by fans - without the stupidly strict relevance criterias offered by the mainstream oriented Wikipedia (especially the German one).

So I ask for your help as soon as the request is approved.

Other languages of course are welcome but I can\'t offer much help there.
