General Discussion / Re: Blame it on the Bucket
April 03, 2004, 06:37:48 am
Sounds to me like like Axl is shifting the blame. I\'m sure Big B put up with a lot of stuff during his time with Axl and finally decided to concentrate on more fruitful work. We\'ve all seen and read how incredibly polite and sweet he is so I know BS when I smell it.

I\'m sure Axl is just pissed that Buckethead got in first and caused them to cancel it before he could!  ;)

General Discussion / Re: Top 5 anyone?

In no particular order:

Bucketheadland
Somewhere Over the Slaughterhouse
Transmutation - Praxis
Bermuda Triangle
Cobrastrike 2

What I meant to say was:

I just ordered IOTLM and I wanted to pass on my thanks to Travis and Buckethead for offering it for sale here. As an Australia fan, I would never have been able to obtain this slab if it was only available at shows. Thanks Travis and Buckethead, you both know how to look after the fans! :-)

QuoteIf your asking me T-man, I don\'t know. I didn\'t make this record it\'s by the same folks who did Bucketheadland II. I haven\'t heard it yet either, just haven\'t had time. Buckethead was just going to sell them at shows but so many people wanted it he asked me if I would offer it here, so here it is.
I know there were several sold at shows so perhaps someone who owns it will chime in with a review.

It sounds like you and I have very similar tastes in music. I too love Bucketheads work with Extrakd and my favorite albums by Buckethead are Somewhere Over The Salughterhouse and Bermuda Triangle. Like you, Buckethead hsa taken me on a journey to discover work by some of the people he has worked with and Disciple Of Retro-tech was just one of those jems. Materials Hallucination Engine is one of my top 10 favourite albums.

I highly recommend you check out Bullet Proof Space Travelers - Built To Last (Eddie Def, DJ Quest, DJ Cue, DJ Marz & Eddie K) It may be similar in vein to Deciples... and although the Space Travelers were a renowned turntablist crew, it\'s a well produced album without all the in-your-face turntablism wizardy. Built To Last was released on Stray Records like Deciples so it may be hard to track down but it is well worht it.

I also recommend:
Gonvervill - Self Titled (Brain, Extrakd & Eddie Def)
Double E - Audio Men (Extrakd & Eddie Def)

I\'m a huge fan of Eddie Def\'s work. He\'s stated that he used to be a metal head and then got into Hip Hop and although he doesn\'t heavily feature rock samples you can hear it\'s influence on him:
Wax People (Compilation from Eddies Hemp Lords mixtapes)
Wax People II: Open Your Mind (2nd Compilation from Hemp Lords)
Inner Scratch Demons (A seperate complilation from Hemp Lords put together by Mike Patton - probably the best place to start and easiest to find)
Then there are Eddies albums on Stray: Instrumental Pills, Stuff and also Cheap Recordings which have some of the craziest drum loop combinations you\'ll ever hear. Instrumental Pills is my favourite of the 3. HE\'s also released 3 mixtapes as KITTY Radio which can be downloaded for free over at Bulletproofscratch.com

Mix Master Mike has also just released a free download: Napalm Rockets which a Dubstep mixtape which I\'m currently enjoying. Download it from mixmastermike.com under the media downlaods section.

In similar taste to Hallucination Engine - Try some Table Beat Science. I only have Live In San Fran but want to get some mroe. I also just got Dub Trio - Another Sound Is Dying and sounds good so far...

I hope this helps!

Sure some peices may have ended up elsewhere on other albums but I feel that these were 2 different albums. The artwork looked complete (and which I absolutely loved) and had lots of guests which CCOH didn\'t have. The Gigi and Laswell tracks may have ended up being used on Enter The Chicken or Shine as mentioned above, but what happened to the Extrakd or Pete Scaturro tracks?
Perhaps Catalyst Entertainment was the culprit for not releasing it as Secret Recipe was also eventually not released by them

Hmmm thats very disappointing. Whilst I didn\'t pre-order this, I definately would have bought it. (I\'m overseas so I was waiting for its release so I could bundle it with a heap of other stuff)

QuoteI just wish it was available someplace other than iTunes. I\'d love to have the full version, but I don\'t even have iTunes installed on my computer and don\'t plan to anytime soon.

Some of Buckethead\'s catalogue, including Albino Slug, is available from emusic.com in DRM-free mp3 format.
However, you can\'t pay per track and need a monthly subscription to download.

TDRS artists, music and related topics / Re: dead thread
February 17, 2009, 01:35:35 am
With much love to all, unfortunately I must agree with the common consensus. I too am frustrated with the Bucketheadland website with its lack of updates or news other than tour dates (Heck Im down in Australia and so they are no use to me)

I don\'t personally blame Greg as I\'m sure he does as good a job as can be done. Gathering information from all the scraps and body parts throughout the slaughterhouse and the coop would be a hard job indeed. What needs to improve is the filtering of info direct from those who operate Buckethead (his management) to the website.

But most important of all I think they need to remove the monitoring of all posts by the Admin before they are on public view on the Bucketboard. Sometimes it can take days or even longer for it to be updated. And so any meaningful discussion or even breaking news such as TDRS releases is impaired.

I love Buckethead. I love Bucketheadland. I am just contributing to some constructive criticism

Yeah that song samples lines from a scene in the Australian movie Chopper starring Eric Bana in the title role. Its an awesome movie about the life of professional criminal and hitman Mark "Chopper" Reid who is best known for cutting off both of his own ears while in prison (Hence the line "How come I don\'t have any ears?")

Do yourself a favour and search out this movie!

While there are no known facts about this album, I will speculate about it.

It was to be released by Catalyst Entertainment (who released Bermuda Triangle). There were postcards sent out advertsing Bermuda Triangle along with the upcoming Super Diarama Theatre and the Secret Recipe DVD. Whilst I can\'t remeber the exact timeline, but the DVD took well over a year after that to come out and even then it was with some difficulty.

I beleive that Super Diarama Theatre was caught up with this. I haven\'t heard anything about Catalyst the company but perhaps they had financial troubles or something similar which affected the release of SDT and SR.

There was some conjecture as to SDT being \'turned into\' "The Cuckoo Clocks From Hell" as the sample track from SDT (which was released on the internet) ended up being released on CCFH as "Moths To Flame".

My opinion is that sure, some tracks may have been used on CCFH but it isn\'t the same album and simply relabeled. SDT was advertised as featuring Bill Laswell, Gigi, Pete Scaturro, and Extrakd - None of which feature on CCFH. I too wonder what happend... especiially as I loved Buckeheads work with Extrakd

Hey there Travis,

Anymore news on the re-release of the Deli Creeps CD? Any mention of you or someone else selling it? ANY news would be great.
14
Awesome! That\'s great news Travis! Both for the stocking of EMAC and also the setting up of the eBay store to stop these ridiculous auctions for easily available stuff.

[glb]One question though[/glb] - You mentioned the Deli Creeps CD and their website is down so I can\'t buy the CD from there. Will it be available here?
15
Hmmm I just looked at Bucketheads tour dates (I never look at these becasue I\'m overseas) and they go up to the end of April and 2 more shows in June so I guess we\'ll have to wait until around that time before TEMAC becomes available at TDRS... :(

I think I\'m gonna explode with anticipation
