Buckethead Pikes site is so slow because there is a little dude in India hand coding the HTML each time the page is hit.

I had sent the Pikes website an email asking when this will be pressed on to a CD, and they told me that it will be released as a CD sometime next month.

I am one of the few that uses a Zune (hey it was cheap and holds a LOT of Buckethead) but they never seem to get any music first. This is going to be a tough wait. Any full songs posted on YouTube yet? ;)

Hey bro, you're not alone, I use a Zune too. ;) I just don't like Apple/iTunes.

Hope this one will become available on CD soon. I prefer physical Discs much over downloads. And Apple/iTunes isn't an option for me anyway ;)

Can anybody describe the style of this release for me, please?

It became available on the Zune today. I was extremely surprised and happy to be able to listen to a new Buckethead while driving.

For those who are waiting to purchase it here is the first 'song' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcvJFIAyDac (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcvJFIAyDac) as the album feels like one whole song broken up into 12 tracks.

Hehe, I just uploaded that! I will be uploading Red Water Colors next, and maybe Veil of Tinfoil and Replacement Nail.

Bought it off iTunes yesterday, played it a couple of times as it's only short, just over half an hour. It might well be the shortest one yet, but only just. It feels a lot like Underground Chamber - the whole album runs like one track and it's laden with effects and frankly terrifying guitar gymnastics.

My only criticism? Each time I hear a funky groove and really get into it, the dynamic changes and often the entire time signature does too. I'm not saying that's a bad thing because I love it when air instrumentalists get stumped, but there's some really brilliant bits here that last for about 8 bars tops and then it flies into this flurry of shredding. I dig shredding, don't get me wrong, but there's some serious binges to be had here.

i hear what your saying in search of the. i dig all his stuff but i really love his speed metal structured songs.
i wish itunes would display credits.  it sounds like a dan monti production.

I don't even mean proper metal, I mean albums like Albino Slug and Pepper's Ghost. There's some dynamite grooves there!

I downloaded it, listened through a few times at work yesterday. I dunno... I'm on the fence about this one. IA and 3ftC are still the stand-outs of the pikes series. So far... The rest are just? Well? I can't get into them. I'm the type of guy that doesn't really appreciate something that has to grow on me. My one exception would be blueprints, I was like wtf :o? First time through. Now I love that friggin album! It's so playful and random! But it works.

After listening to great work such as: PG, EMAC, NTT, GR, ET & BHL2 when I hear stuff that seems quickly thrown together, I just kinda scratch my head and say "whaaat? Really?". But I suppose that's what one would expect from a complete psychotic madman with a bucket on his head ;)

Keep up the great work bucket! I get it, you're nuts and that's why we love ya! You're in good company... If it wasn't for the random, experimental and quirky stuff you do, it just wouldn't be the same, the park would be too linear and predictable. But it's a bloody f***ing mess! Hands, heads and entrails everywhere!! Good times! Im damn proud to be a bot! 8)

I like IA but my problem with it is that is not as original as other Pikes releases. So far my favorite of the series has to be Empty Space, its just so filled with creativity and funky bass lines that i love. Then would come 3FC although i do not consider it part of the series since it was released prior but Ballad of Jerry Mono easily on my top 10 fave tracks ever. Balloon would come right after just because of the weirdly combination between ES and UC and it has its moments, im still growing into it. LUT would be placed fourth just because of the awesomeness of the solos  8) and UC has was too many lasers for my liking but it has its moments ;D

My favorite Pikes albums (in order) would be:
1. 3 Foot Clearance
2. Empty Space
3. Balloon Cement
4. It's Alive
5. Underground Chamber
6. Look Up There

I love all of these albums...the only one that seems to stand out for me is Look Up There, mainly because it is the only Pike with all melodic music. Don't get me wrong, it is a fantastic album, but if there was more than one all-melodic Pike then it probably wouldn't stand out as much.

I do find that some songs seem like they were thrown together, but i still absolutely love it...a lot of it is some of his best work!

Also, about 3 Foot Clearance, I can see why a lot of bots don't consider it a Pike. If it was the first Pike, then I'm sure they would...I actually consider it one, seeing as the songs have the Pikes style and sound.

I loved 3 Foot Clearance, it's probably one of my favourite Buckethead albums but I don't consider it a Pikes release because of the circumstances around its release, and it just isn't consistent - the rest of the Pikes albums are about half an hour, whereas 3FC is a little longer and less experimental.

I don't see how 3 Foot Clearance shouldn't be conisdered a legit pike actually. Yes, before it was a pike album it was called "Happy Holidays" from Buckethead, but everyone knew it was a limited edition album. Therefore "Happy Holidays" had to run its own course eventually. It also doesn't make sense to me that it's considered "too different" to be a pike either. Does it make sense to say It's Alive sounds like Empty Space sounds like Underground Chamber sounds like Look Up There sounds like Balloon Cement (well BC does sound a bit like UC) which makes them real pike albums? They all sound like different albums to me

If anything, I think what makes them all fit the pike series is the sound mixing and the album artwork. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but it seems to me that ever since Pepper's Ghost, Buckethead albums have been following a rather conservative sound production. Even A Real Diamond In The Rough has that same clean tone that's heard in Albino Slug and Decoding The Tomb Of Bansheebot. Maybe the pike series was made as a way of indicating a signature sound which Buckethead has finally discovered. So anything that isn't released as a pike (i.e. Electric Sea) will be an indication of Buckethead's experimental work.

Really, the point of the Pikes series was just finding a fun way to release Bucket's music aside from TDRS. The comic book idea is great and probably helps with sales. Because you just HAVE to have all of them even if you don't enjoy all of them. ;)

3 Foot Clearance is a Pike. Why? Because Buckethead says so. ;)

Wait, what's this about a comic book?

Not an actual comic book, the layout and style of the releases mimics comic books with the issue number, "price" in the corner and overall theme, especially with the first two releases.

Hmm, I don't know much about comic books. Yet I don't really see how that forces someone to buy all of them under any circumstance. It's cool to have all of them though, but it's also cool to have all 36 of Buckethead's studio albums too, isn't it? It would be a pretty amazing idea if Buckethead were to write a long song for an album, split it in half, and put the first half as the last track to his next album and the second half as the first track to the following album. That way it's seamless between releases.

I think you took that too literally... The series concept might make some people want to collect all of them.

Yeah, you're probably right. But now that I brought it up, I kinda like this idea where Buckethead might release two albums that flow seamlessly into each other.
