Title: Buckethead contest suggestions?
Post by: Bucketdog on December 28, 2010, 11:29:48 pm
Sup bots! I want to do another contest in march and I dunno how I want to do the next one... I don\'t want suggestions on the voting process. I just want to know what the whole community here would like to see myself and the other contestants do. Needs to be related to buckethead\'s style of-course.

Also, I\'m looking for people to contribute to the next one and hopefully have a 25 person field. Potential contributors need to pm me in that regard and your names will be included in the official contest thread. I will not be accepting money till 2 weeks prior to the contest. I myself will contribute $60.00 twards the up-comming contest.

Hey Bucketdog,

I will contribute$ to the next contest(like i said i would)
I thought shooting a short horror music video or just a random creepy video would be killer contest idea.

Maybe do like a 5-6 minute video with your own music score(keeping it horror of course)

Has to be guitar and/or bass. Actual music.

I was thinking a contest that doesnt involve making music because not everyone has guitar, bass, etc

how bout like an extreme buckethead song quiz contest? my idea is that volunteers will make a video containing samples of a certain number of buckethead songs which contestants will try and figure out the name of the song. I\'m just unsure how to do this.

And my other idea is that we try and do a Bucketbot FF and NISS, but Im not sure if that is going to work as well.

Just some thoughts out of my head...

Well, the main squeeze around here is music. So I kinda wanted to follow suit. Besides, most of us here are muscians or have a certain fascination with music...

since you asked...

have more than three people.

Typically the person putting on the contest is not a contestant.

I would also suggest putting a lot of thought into the rules so that there can be absolutely no misinterpretation of them.

^^^^ I play in them because it\'s really unlikely anyone else around here (except badgerbot or wizard_beard) will ever do stuff like this. So it\'s my only oppertunity to do so...

Also if you read the post you\'d know I want close to 25 people in the next one.

Yes I did read your post.. but don\'t ask if you don\'t want people to respond to your question.

and dont ask if you dont even consider the responses.

^^^ I wasn\'t being negative or trying to put you or anyone down. I was adding my 2 cents to you post and I was trying to explain my reasoning for joining the contests. It\'s all good man.

D, how come almost every other post that you post always makes you come off as arrogant.. Ive held back from telling you anything, but most of your post on here seem like you\'re trying pick a fight with pretty much anyone..

Why don\'t you PM him instead of making your complaint in public?

QuoteWhy don\'t you PM him instead of making your complaint in public?
Because, I might not be the only one who feels like this.. I brought it up to the attention of everyone one on here for that reason.. It isnt of a private matter to me, and I hardly pm anyone on here unless it\'s something personal.. Those are just my motives.

No I never try to pick fights, but I only speak up and bother to post when I see something headed in the wrong direction.

for example someone coming here where buckethead cds are sold and blabbing about how they just did such a "great service" by uploading an entire album. Or any sort of dumb behavior.

I don\'t really bother posting anywhere anymore, (assholes laughing about recently deceased close relatives and addictions can do that) but I can only bite my tongue for so long.

I meant (and mean) no disrespect for bucketdog, but it kinda bothered me the way the previous contests were handled, he asked and I responded as to how I thought it could be improved.

I see your point though... I\'ll stop posting all together, no I\'m not having the I\'m going to take my toys and go home attitude, but just trying to avoid being negative.

Yes this is the scenario where a PM would be more appropriate rather than derailing a thread.

Sooo...you\'re leaving your toys here? SCORE!!

Just kidding D...stick around bro...nothing wrong wth speaking your mind. I agree with you most of the time too!

gb - good thread derail...

Back to the contest...i don\'t think it HAS to be making music related...not all Buckethead fans play....but those who put up the prizes should choose what they want for the contest.

I will say the rules should be well thought out and crisply communicated long before the contest starts to get questions out of the way. The original post should be updated to ensure all the questions that were asked are answered. (This way people don\'t have to sift through 5 pages to learn ALL of the rules)

Make sense?

@ jowaxe - I agree with you. I\'ll be very clear about the rules this time around. I can see why you commented on that.

@ D - I appreciate constructive criticism. sometimes it helps to put things into perspective. But if I host a contest and put up my own hard earned money. I\'m basicly gonna do what I want as long as it\'s fair for everyone involved.

@Gb - thanks for sticking up for me. But I think in this instance everybody is cool now  ;)

@ bucketdog - stop typing and get back to work bitch!

Cheers man...i didn\'t participate in the others so the rules thing was just an outsiders view...

I know you\'ll do it differently this time. Nice of you to pt up some cash....good work sir.
