Title: What influences do you hear in Big B\'s music?
Post by: fdsman on February 22, 2010, 06:07:17 pm
I\'ve heard Black sabbath, Pink floyd, Jimi hendrix, a bit of led, and for some reason, michael hedges <---especially in SBTS and of course the obvious pebber brown and his other teachers, plus of course his own style.

Eddie Hazel, Shawn Lane, and any one of the popular shredders, horror movie soundtracks, John Carpenter, Albert and friends

TCM, monsters, monster robots, toys, amusement parks, Walt Dismay, basketball, slaughter houses, his stomach ulcers, chickens, tall shapely women, masks, super powers, kung fu, children, Joseph Merrick, the unexplained,

What I hear the most is his love for his family... and most importantly God.

Most importantly God?, i\'m not touching that one, but there are similarities to Paul Gilbert, so he might have been an influence.

Underwater cemetaries and peices

At one time people thought he was Paul Gilbert

I would have to say that God is important to Buckethead because he was raised that way.  I can hear it.  Theres too much emotion in his work for me not to hear that influence.

I think emotion in music can be interpreted in many different ways (particualy when it\'s instrumental), but I guess I can see "God" as a good possibility.

As a joke, I was thinking about saying that Buckethead\'s music is the work of the devil, but then I thought I better not because someone will take me seriously and get all up in arms about it.

Chainsaws and sheet metal.

I hear a lot of things in his music...

p-funk (parliment, funkadelic, p-funk all stars)

Bernie Worrell (yes part of the p-funk family).. not only are they friends but if you hear/read Bernie talk about his music he often describes it as blips and bleeps that is some form of communication, or strange language... I certainly hear that in Bucketheads sound often enough.

Obviously Buckethead is influenced by dark forces and likes to write songs about them as evident on his more metal records. Being raised by chickens would make anyone alittle dark.

The man behind the mask is a different person who was raised differently.  I feel that person\'s morality shows through Bucketheads more soulful releases.

Want to dig up bodies?  Will you help me?  I like playing with peices of body?  I want to play with you!  Because when you kill a cow theirs not much you can do.  You souldnt have said those mean things to me last night. Im gutting you alive while staring in your eyes. Yep, Im gonna wear your face as a mask and use your body as a lamp.... Its lime time!

"You souldnt have said those mean things to me last night." :o

I am serious when I say that I have been to Bucketheadland, took me days to get out.  Got the stumps to prove it.  While I was there I met some of his family and their a buch of cocks and chickens... seriously leave the chickens alone. ::)

Disclaimer: Yes, im not being serious... seriously though you shouldnt have said those mean things to me last night.  :D

Metal is not the devil

Christian metal proves that...  Living Sacrifice, Believer, and The Crucified are some great bands!

Metal does not get the Devil. It can\'t equal the devil because they have a differen\'t reference, therefore: Metal != Devil.

sarcasm... in response to the "dark forces" comment. .. metal is metal.. no dark forces or torment needed, just a love for heavy music.

Metal is the Devil\'s music! It enslaves people to Satan if you listen to it backwards, turns people into mass murderers and will make you eat puppies, kitties and babies after hearing it.

Oops, did I say metal? I meant the jonas brothers and miley cyrus  :P

Very good point.  Last time I heard a Miley Cyrus song on the radio I ate a puppy.  It couldn\'t be helped.

IMO Bucket is far too intelligent a human being to believe in a make-believe man in the sky.

wtf were you thinking posting that?  Seriously?

IMO intelligence isn\'t measured by believing in God... the smartest man alive, Steven Hawking, believes in a higher being through his research, so for you to make such a statement is just showing your ignorance on the subject.  I\'m sorry that you think this way.
