It shipped in about a week.
Profanation is a mix of metal/thrash, techno, funk, dub, hip hop, etc. There are vocals on almost every track. It is not what I expected, but in a good way. It reminds me more of Material with buckethead and a harder edge, (which i guess is what Praxis is), maybe a little Devil Dub thrown in. I love this album, after 2 listens. Buckethead shreds on almost every track!
Don\'t know if you were aware but the website is shut down until the 13th.
just listened to samples of each track, lots of vocals
wish i could hear more
i wonderrrrrr why this isn\'t available in the U.S.?
make sense to anyone, all other praxis albums were

Label conflicts I believe. I think I read that Laswell really wanted some good marketing for this album and didn\'t want to settle for something mediocre. The samples sound sweet, so I hope this album does well!
As for HMV, I ordered about a week ago along with many others. And while most people received it 4 days later, they giving me the run around saying it\'s out of stock and they\'re not sure when it will be back. Extremely irritating >:(

Do they actually have it there and ready to be shipped or is there a waiting period? If its there I\'ll probably have to go ahead and get it!!!

I understood delivery to be...2-4 weeks I don\'t mind the wait...i like the feeing of aniticpation...and I\'m patient ;)
A lil bonus...when you register...they offered "points" that you can claim at the register...I think it equaled about $5 what the heck... ;)
I haven\'t heard of it offered anywhere else so that\'s that ;)
BIG HUGZ! ;D

Here is my experience with the shipping from cdjapan.
I got a confirmation email right after I ordered saying it would be shipped in 2-4 weeks. About a day or two later I got another email saying the cd was in stock and had shipped, and would take 5-6 days. Got it last Saturday. It took about a week total.
ZQ- I bet yours shows up in about a week as well.
I think the 2-4 week message indicates that it "could" take that long to get the cd in stock, but it obviously does not take that long.
I am very satisfied with the cd and the service from cdjapan.

The good thing about the points is they accumulate. If you buy from them again you will get a discount. Damn, I sound like a freakin\' commercial.
Finally got an email confirmation this morning from HMV saying that it\'s back in stock and ready to ship ;D
The time to order is now!

Some people over at TK say that this one is fairly close to Transmutations greatness. I don\'t have the album yet so can\'t say from personal experience yet.

Well, I for one love Sacrafist. To each his own (or her own).
Profanation has the diversity of music styles that Transmutation has, but is still very different. I paid about $37 for it and I think it is well worth it. The first 6 tracks are heavy metalish, the last 6 are funky, dubby weirdness that I love from the Laswell camp. It\'s a great album, get it.
But, get Tennesee 2004 first, that disc is just plain sick.
Oh Yeah, Maximum Bob is on track 2 "Worship." Profanation is worth the $ for this track alone.
"Tell me what I\'ve come to run from.
Tell me what to see when I can see.
Tell me what to think when I\'m thinking.
Tell me what to believe or not believe.
Tell me who I\'m allowed to worship.
Tell me who to love and tell me who to eat.
Tell me what I can steal when I\'m stealing.
Tell me who you want me to kill"
This album grows on me evertime I listen to it. It\'s fuckin bad!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM TOO
BUT THAT SONG ISNT MY FAVORITE LOVE THE LAST THREE SONGS AND 2ND HALF OF #8
Holy! S**t Maximum Bob is on it?? man I gotta get this! I love Dawn Of The Deli Creeps and their Demos... my favorite song by Deli Creeps has to be Tribal Rites...I just wish they would do another version in the studio..
peace

Dont have a fave yet.
I like the Iggy Pop tune alot.
I agree about the last three songs. Got a devil dub sound going on.
Revelations Pt.2 is pretty sweet ;D
Just got the email from cdjapan saying that my order has shipped! The first new Buckethead of the new year is on its way to me! Woot! ;D
yeah I just ordered mine last night! hopefully mine will get shipped soon too! think I\'m gonna go ahead and order Praxis - Tennesee next..
who would of thunk that my copy of this would arrive today on MLK? jeez I\'m 40 miles from home at work.. post office said they couldn\'t find my home because it wasn\'t on their maps yet because its new development.... and they closed at 2pm so man I\'m so unlucky.. this wouldn\'t be the first time this happened.. it happened when they had to deliver my copy of Giant Robot NTT,..
anyway I should have this tomarrow..
So much different music on one CD - unbelievable.
Also ordered a copy yesterday - can\'t wait to have & hear that one ;D ;D ;D!!!
mine actually came exceptionally quick... I mean I only waited like 5 days.. and would have been 4 if they could have found my house hehe.. I\'m only 3 songs deep so far but it sounds awesome!!!!
Mine arrived yesterday but I wasn\'t there to get it. I just wanted people to know that the shipping to the US from cdjapan seems to be really fast.
shipping to germany is very fast too
duuuude this cd rocks!!! actually rivals transmutation mutatis mutandis! I\'m loving it!! and brain on drums is refreshing!!
Quoteduuuude this cd rocks!!! actually rivals transmutation mutatis mutandis! I\'m loving it!! and brain on drums is refreshing!!
Wow! I need to get this ASAP!!!
Woo got mine today, shpping took a total of 5 days from when I ordered, I thinks thats pretty damn good (I ordered form HMV)
track number 9! Ruined is awesome!
Quotetrack number 9! Ruined is awesome!
The only one without Buckethead. :p
For those of you that ordered this from Japan, how did the shipping costs work out??? And there is no way to convert from yen two US dollars on their site, I have used a converter to figure that out, but I\'m still confused how the shipping works out in the receipt for using a credit card overseas
Duff, I ordered from both cdjapan and yesasia. There was a little cost difference and both ended up being approx. $35 (give or take a dollar). Here is the cdjapan breakdown:
Shipped 2,500yen
Subtotal 2,500yen
Points Applied -300yen
Shipping 1,500yen
Order Total 3,700yen
Final Order Total 3,700yen
(US$ 34.22)*
I ordered mine from Yesasia.com for 26 USD including shipping.
lol I didn\'t even look at the liner notes as I was jamming. buckethead isn\'t on that one I guess haha! however I will say worship is equally as good!! and brain! yes brain! on laswell\'s spooky bass! excellent
Sulfur and Cheese is my favorite track, very chill kinda song as well as some crazy 7/8 time heavy parts ;D
Caution and Worship are pretty cool too. Other than those I\'m not really digging this record all that much, too many hip hop sounding songs for my taste, also I prefer the instrumental Praxis we all know and love. To each his own though.
Is that Saul on Sulfur and Cheese? Pretty sure thats him. OOO and Worship def. is Buckethead. Just listen to it, I\'m pretty sure its him.
Sulfur and Cheese features Serj Tankian of System of a Down, killer tune!
Yeah duh I meant to put Serj. I don\'t know what made me put Saul, guess I just had Three Fingers on the mind.
ahhh, man. This album sounds so kickass. Buckethead, Maximum Bob, Mike Patton and Serj Tankian. Four of my favorite people. Just wish this could be released in the US, or at least be made available for legal download somehow, though the cover art looks pretty sick too.
Yeah, got my copy last week, listened to it A LOT and must say: KILLER-ALBUM!!! 8) 8) 8)
let me be the first to show dissapointment then.
:(
a lot of overly commercial sounding stuff on this.
i met buckethead music through transmutation first, and that still is one of the top ten things i have heard him on. that album is a masterpiece imo. this is a bit of a trainwreck. way too much lyrics.
i hate to say it but i agree w/ djhash - this sounds like the praxis version of "enter the chicken". there ARE some good tracks but many are "run-of-the-mill" & if i heard it on radio i wouldn\'t believe it was these great players involved.
nothing on it approaches transmutation.
it\'ll probably grow on me some but wow, all those vocals!!
Yeah, it is a solid album, but way down on my list of favorite Buckethead albums.
It\'s not the commercial aspect of it that turns me off, it\'s the record itself. This album is just all over the place, too many styles and no unifying theme to the material.
For the record, I actually love Enter the Chicken, but I don\'t like Profanation much at all. So for those actually relying on some of these comments, don\'t base it entirely on comparisons to Enter the Chicken. This record is very heavy on hip hop/DJ sounding material and doesn\'t bear much resemblence to any former Praxis outings.
Quote...and doesn\'t bear much resemblence to any former Praxis outings.
That\'s the only thing typical about any Praxis album.

My point exactly, does it HAVE TO resemble things that came before it? Isn\'t it just refreshing that it has its very own sound?
I think so. 8)

It doesn\'t have to, but there should be SOMETHING consistent about your sound, no matter how experimental you are.
As far as sounding refreshing due to its own sound, that is a valid point. However just because it\'s an experiment doesn\'t automatically make the results good, no matter how much work was put in to make it successful. If I made a great metal tune that won much admiration and then made a country tune as an experiment, I would rather hear a genuine reaction to each tune rather than "Oh, good for you for trying new things". There is such a thing as a failed experiment, not that Profanation was one.
Unless you\'re giving merit to the music simpy for the fact that it tried something different rather than the actual music itself, I can agree that new sounds can be refreshing.
I think the music is fucking baddass!
Remember....we\'re talking about a Bill Laswell creation here. Just think about the multi faceted recordings by Material for instance. There\'s nothing consistent from one release to the next, except for exceptional music which may or may not reflect or partially incorporate the current musical trends not only from the USA but globally.
When is a US release date?
There is no US release date. It is only available in Japan. Try Downtown Music Gallery or cdjapan.
