Ok so I had a killer week at my business and want to share the wealth a bit.
Contest Outline: compose a buckethead style song no shorter than 2 mins and 30 seconds. And no longer than 3mins 30 seconds. Your only accompaniment can be drums or a metronome.
It can either be soft like colma or brutal like bucketheadland 2. Doesn\'t matter, as-long as it reflects buckethead\'s style.
Prize: first place gets a $100.00 purchase including shipping to anything you want from the TDRS store paid by me and badgerbot. :)
The first 13 people to post here are gonna be the entries, including me. So I\'m looking for 12 more people that want to compete. Post your video to YouTube and then post a link here to the website under a new post I\'ll create in 2 weeks time. So you got 2 weeks to hammer it out starting next Monday.
The people that didn\'t make the cut or don\'t play guitar will be the judges. I\'ll set up the proper thread for voting.

Re: questions: doesn\'t have to be live(YouTube video). Has to be a buckethead style song(any one of his styles, he has many). And the ONLY other sounds you may have (aside from you playing either the bass, guitar, or banjo) is a drummer or metronome(something to keep the beat). Only one instrument may be played!

we might eventually be able to do some type of larger scale contest where there is an entry fee which goes towards the pot so that there won\'t have to be any sponsors.

I\'m no musician, but I think the contestants can play any instrument listed for Buckethead on his CDs. Bucketdog made the rules, so you\'ll have to ask him, but shouldn\'t that include, but not be limited to, cat guts, finger pikes, infinite beaks, stretching rakes, wooden dummies, invisible scalps, slug trails, glow in the dark cattle prods, bionic cattle prods, plain old normal cattle prods, ice scrapers, taxidermy, embalming and clock repair tools, 6-string wedges, carpel tunnels and scallion saws? That might make up for the other stuff you can\'t use.

i\'ll try my very best considering i am still in sophomore year and only have 10 days left to compose a song.
I wish I played guitar... might post my own song though with me on bass, of course with a buckethead feel. My ability is no where close to those who call themselves bass players but I think I could do some fun things that sound like it should have been part Bucketheadland. Time to let my creativity take over.

i would enter but i dont have any way to make a drum machine or so, and besides i dont know much about music. If i could put the 1 minute demo that we created inspired by Buckethead then yes, but its 2 guitars only ;D
Bucketfel, I just downloaded an open source drum machine called Hydrogen. I think it works in Linux, MacOSX and Windows. Nothing to get crazy excited about in terms of quality, but you could probably learn about making beats with it. Here\'s a link if you want http://www.hydrogen-music.org/

It does! I used it in windows. I\'m using XP though, so maybe there\'s issues with Vista/Win7. Worked fine for me except sometimes when I\'d export the drum track and the play button would get stuck in the ON position, but no sound. Just had to restart the program and the last drum track just loads up automatically so it\'s no big deal.
