Make your voice count!! Suspend Michael Vick NOW!
VICK should NOT be going to camp...he should be sweating the consequences...dog fighting is a felony...the highly organized operation found at his property...and the cruelty that has been explained is beyond the backyard "game"... his status...his fame...makes me sick that he just may get away with it. Animal fighting is NEVER a good thing...it\'s about power and greed.
Make your voice count...let the NFL know that they ought to be doing SOMETHING...i have to hand it to Nike...they at least are thinking of the consequences...of what the outcome "may be"... the NFL is accustomed to players...breaking the law...getting let off...and they keep on playing...it is disturbing and disgusting at too many levels to name.
A few options...to let our voice count...
here is an online form from the humane society...note their is a place to send an email

done, done and done!
and, it is making a difference. this morning, there was a Falcons dog leash available for purchase at their stores and on their website. i emailed and so did a lot of others, to suggest they discontinue that item, and "poof" - it\'s gone. i\'m sure that unwanted press coverage helped, but still....
Arf!
HE\'s NOT going to camp! It\'s another step.... :D
Will Nike end their realtionship with him too? We can voice a request... :) let\'s keep making a difference!

thanks again! and thanks to the people who make it convenient for the rest of us to take some action.
7/28 Upper Deck Co., the maker of sports memorabilia that has bid $425 million for Topps Co., won\'t put cards featuring Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick in its collections in the future, joining Nike Inc. and Reebok International Ltd. in dropping him.

*Tony Taylor, a co-defendant in Michael Vick's federal dogfighting conspiracy case, pleaded guilty Monday as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. He also claims the Atlanta Falcons quarterback provided nearly all of the financing for the illegal operation.
"The \'Bad Newz Kennels\' operation and gambling monies were almost exclusively funded by Vick," a summary of facts supporting the plea agreement and signed by Taylor states.

I guess the presumption of innocence doesnt mean shit to you. Have we not learned anything from the Duke lacrosse players "rape case"?

well let\'s see is there really any real reason to be hostile with me? I think not. thank you very much.
I understand the legal process very well and of course we learn things everyday.
Presumption of innocent it is a curious beast...
Oh don\'t worry phartacus, (is that long for Fart?)
Vick will still have his date in court ...but we can count on all his fast talkin lawyers to do all the talkin. Vick\'s actions...his attitude...his friends turning biting the hand that fed them. hmmmm. presumption. I wish the poor dogs that were tortured to death...or worse were here to take a bite out of him...
Here for your reference...is the definition of presumption...
http://mw1.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/presumption
it\'s not "proven" yet....ya alright...the gavel hasn\'t come down on his head...the probability factor...hmmm...i think it\'s pretty clear. There is a possiblity he will get "loose" by some loop...would make me sick.
(go figure...people still speculate about oj..the glove didnt\' fit.) there have been plenty sigh...
By the way...comparing this to that rape case is completely ridiculous...good grief. The DOGS certainly DID NOT \'encourage\' Vick\'s organization to torture them...and the BIGGEST difference of all the DOGS CANNOT TALK...or TELL anybody about it ..they had no alies/ witnesses and many suffered inhumane unspeakable DEATHS.

I have to agree with Phartacus on this one. While his guilt does appear to be indisputable he has not been convicted just indicted. There is a reason we say "innocent until proven guilty." If we allow guilty judgments to be placed before conviction we invite ourselves to become a society without civil rights. Civil liberties should be protected at all cost even if some guilty never come to justice.
This is not to say that Mr. Vick should not be held accountable for his actions. He should just not be presumed guilty until the gavel falls. Sometimes this is a very hard thing to do, especially if the issues are emotionally charged.
I was glad to see that the companies he endorses have determined that his life style does not fit into their company image.
Side question: Did Kobe Bryant loose any of his endorsement during his rape hearing? This is not meant to be flippant I'm really curious.
i heard someone else discussing this the other day and they didn\'t believe that Kobe was dropped.. maybe he\'d been suspended though
here\'s what a found on a quick search of Kobe suspended by sponsors

anywho, regarding the civil rights, we\'ve been so robbed in that dept. for quite some time now.. that is, people don\'t pay enough attention and bills are passed quietly.
if you are interested in that sort of thing, you\'d probably really enjoy the Zeitgeist documentary. it\'s very serious and definitely propaganda, good as far as i\'m concerned. it\'s quite controversial, and it gets you thinking about a lot of very important things, if nothing else. i recommend it highly
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
it\'s 2 hours that will fly by like one. if you watch it, i\'d love to hear what you think, if you\'ve already watched it, ditto
if it\'s not ideal to watch a movie on your PC, i can send you a copy of the dvd, it\'s free to share, per the makers.

I couldn\'t agree more, that is why it is so important to give Michael Vick his day in court. If we are willing to condemn him without a trial it seems to me that we are tacitly condoning our government for slowly and silently stripping away our own rights.
Thanks for the article on sport stars -- very interesting.
quite so!
he pled guilty and copped a deal, it supposedly WILL include jail time.
meanwhile, on a similar topic, i was glad to see that Bob the Tortoise is home safe and sound.
thanks for the word!
Dogs will have their day... ;D
The NFL indefinitely suspended Michael Vick without pay Friday just hours after he acknowledged in court papers that he did, indeed, bankroll gambling on dogfighting and helped kill some dogs not worthy of the pit. :\'( :\'( :\'(
Vick, however, insisted he placed no bets of his own nor took any winnings.
>:( good grief...he makes me sooo angry..how i\'d like to pull the switch and ZAP Vick.
