BIG HUGZ!!! ;D
now if only I could afford this...
and I\'m beginning to think Buckethead should be in the Guinnes Book of world records for most material released in a year..
Oh man, I\'ll have to file for bankruptcy at this rate, and I couldn\'t be happier! ;D
I do wonder if Buckethead has a Guinness world record there?
is death cube k just ambient noises or is there actual guitar playing and stuff? Ive listened to samples on amazon and itunes and i just hear alot of guitar noises and other noises
Guinness world book would get frustrated. Buckethead IS a world record.
Quoteis death cube k just ambient noises or is there actual guitar playing and stuff? Ive listened to samples on amazon and itunes and i just hear alot of guitar noises and other noises
It\'s mostly ambient type stuff with hints of guitar here and there. If you dig stuff like horror movie soundtracks you\'d enjoy it a lot.
when ye be shippin em out Travis? it might hafta be a dark new year if the 5 noobs get here in time, haha!
It\'s shipping now.
Travis,
I\'m in the midst of giving mode at the moment... but this is an "unlimited" edition, yes? no need rush? thanks.
Damn, there\'s no way to get this past UK customs without a charge that i just can\'t afford at the moment. Looking forward to when i can buy it though.

Disc 4 or 2
sounds like a pair a sweep phrased elephants some arpeggio(ed) water fairy\'s and some heavy duty crop duster fly by night.
sure is great! third level of the monolith later.
Chris DiCicco
disc 3 or disc 4
its a build up of robotic flurries, fast steps, silents (which is the most loudest music of all ha ha ha) and a mutational outro, all on a really wet floor.
Possibly more will be found on the second listen.
Chris DiCicco
Disc 4 or 2
silver coated wolf whistles stuck in a hyperbaric chamber suite conducted by Larva Mothra (this time) passages underground echoes thumbs stuck on organ, ends with dreamy guitar... hard to explain the end of this one.
Chris DiCicco
Disc 5 or 1
Space, entrance to the garden of the repeating robots, the garden of repeating robots, unconscious in the garden of repeating robots, Monolith Entrance, travel into unto the outro.

Yeah, stroke_my_chicken is a UK bot if I\'m not mistaken, which means it\'ll cost a bit extra in shipping and a LOT extra if it gets stuck in customs unfortunately.
I got my set today, all over here in Sweden, and I was fortunate enough to get it through customs without it being seized, delayed and fee\'d. But you never know whether or not it actually gets stuck in customs or not, that\'s the thing. I was lucky, I took a chance and it paid off, but I can definitely understand his dilemma here.
My bad. Sorry. That\'s a drag, but at least it can be gotten.
For what it\'s worth, I really like it. ;D If you can swing it I\'d say, GO !
how are you guys differentiating the disks.. none of mine are numbered..anyone think of creating names like those fellows from buckethead.tk?
would you believe I received mine a few days ago and have yet to listen to them hehe..just haven\'t had the time..anticipation is killing me though..
peace

Well, I think all of the bots who have received their got them sorted in a special order from top to bottom, so the overall feeling seems to be that they are meant to be that way. I know for a fact that my cd\'s were ordered in that way, and I try my very best to keep them in that order.
If you\'re uncertain about what order they were when you got them, since I assume yours were ordered in the same fashion, just check the lengths of the tracks on the discs. If you want to follow the order everyone got them in, here\'s how you should play them:
Disc 1 - 42:18
Disc 2 - 40:45
Disc 3 - 40:04
Disc 4 - 42:04
Disc 5 - 43:56
I\'m guessing you could mix them however you want to, I guess that\'s part of the beauty of having the discs unnamed and unnumbered, but me.. I just couldn\'t go against how I feel the order they were meant to be listened to. Call it fate, or just call me superstitious, I just figured that\'s how Buckethead intended for us to listen to them since they seem to be pre-arranged that way in everyone\'s set. 8)
Oh, and I know some fellas over at TK actually went ahead and numbered the discs, put some minor marks on the actual discs and sleeves to be able to differentiate them, but that\'s not my style. I don\'t want to alter them in any way, but if you don\'t mind doing it.. well, that could be a tip I suppose.
Well I just listened to Disc 5 - 43:56 on my 40 mile drive to wilmington.. and it sounds really cool. I\'m definitely impressed.. some of the best death cube k yet. It has this phaser type sound for period then it goes into random ambient sounds with some type of echo.

Totally made up by some bots. Not real titles. They\'ve also named all the tracks for the ISOT set. I\'ve never read them, but they exist. I don\'t need titles ;)

Those are made up, and in case you didn\'t notice their all anagrams for Buckethead.
I listed them back to forwards and back just to confuse my self, not anyone else.
when I opened the package, I resisted the urge to scramble them up.
completely forgot about listing the clock ins, oh well, it a good weeks worth of music.
Mon 5 or 1 or 5, Tues 4 or 2 or 4, Wed 3 or 3 or..., Thurs 4 or 2 or 4, Fri 5 or 1 or 5.
FUN TIMES! YUK YUK YUK I TRY TO THINK BUT NOTHING HAPPENS... ;D

Is it just me or has the international shiping cost been raised from $10 to $12?

That is the official tracklisting, not a fan made one. When I put the disc in those were the titles of all the files.
Picked this one up tonight
To be honest, I\'m not much into Death Cub K\'s previous efforts. I like the ambience and effects and all..but just not my thing. I\'d like to buy this for my Buckethead collection, but from hearing that its pretty much in the style of DeathCube K\'s other albums..I don\'t see myself listening to it. Sorry!!!
Hi, Bucketbots and Travis! I have a question to ask about Monolith.
I got my Monolith 5 set today and I was saving it into itune. (yay! Thanks to Big B and Travis!)
Anyway, I thought Monolith CD were all untitled as far as I know, but when I put discs into my computer, some strange song titles and artists' name and album names came up automatically. Instead of artist being Death Cube K or Buckethead, some artists' names like "Napo" or Japanese writing "Mushi" meaning "insect" came up. Song title was like "Mushi no chorus" meaning "chorus of insects". Who the hell is Napo?? Why some came up with Japanese writing? Insect? Or I had one disc with album title as "Cronic Disorganization 19B"
Is this normal?? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining or anything, I'm just curious about what everyone else got, whether this is normal or not.
Any reply will be great. Thank you! ;)
The titles that come up are just from an online datatbase. It tries to figure out the album, but sometimes is wrong. I had Volume 13 of ISOT come up as a Mickey Hart album when I put it in iTunes. So far as I know, Monolith has no official titles. The ones that popped uo that are anagrams of Buckethead were made up by a fan. The "Napo" ones are probably just the database getting the wrong album.
>slunkatron
Ooo!!
Thank you slunkatron, mystery\'s solved. For a moment, I thought it was Buckethead\'s abstract interpretation of insect\'s chorus... ;D
Anyone of you ever tried to mix the 5 CDs down to one track?
See http://www.tdrsmusic.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=TDRS;action=display;num=1202593565
There\'s a good thread over at TK:

(must be logged in I guess)

Have bought loads of stuff from Travis including this album and never been charged by UK customs,
;D
German customs seem to be a bit more after my money...
Just got mine today, and I mix the 5 cd with a software (don\'t know if I can mention it here), well the mix fits perfectly to get (in my opinion) THE "Monolith" album in its original form.
That\'s the one I listened first (the mix) and after I listen to each cd.
It\'s kind of funny, weird and of course entertainment !!!
I\'m just waiting for an official audio DVD mix in 5.1 surround sound, it would be great.
I just suggest you to do the same mix I did. You would be surprised :D :D
^One of the gnarliest things Buckethead has ever done, imo.
How do you mix the Monolith CDs - I\'m curious to check that out.
Mozy,
can only speak for My self and not others, But if You have a Music software (like me Adobe Audition ...)
you would be able to line up the five separate CDR\'s (tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,)
and place them on the new projects tracks 1 2 3 4 5.
I would do this but I fear it might make a big ouch with My computer.
I did this once with Tunnel Weaver but was not good so I aborted it.
You can get some recording track software from $ to $$
Ya Dig?
Chris DiCicco
The best thing would be to set up five stereos and run the CDs all at once like the Flaming Lips\' album is meant to be played. Another possibilty would be to connect five CD players to a mixer and run them through a pair of speakers - not that impressive. The most boring version is to mix the tracks down in a recording software as mentioned above - but it\'s the thing everybody can achieve...
Using my PC, I could play all 5 Cds at once just by using 5 different music players like Musicmatch, Winamp, Windows media player, Itunes, and foobar. I guess that would do the trick?

I\'m excited to play Monolith as this year\'s trick or treat night background music. We get about 500 kids and try to freak them out a bit. I realize it\'s May, but I\'ve already made the decision. Death Cube K will follow Pink Floyd - Ummagumma and Frankie Bones - Escape From Brooklyn as our trick or treat night theme music. Whoo Hoo!!!

heh. i played ummagumma disc two last year.
Yesterday there was a crime movie on German TV using the live version of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" while showing a drug scene. Scary! Roger should have done horror movies in his youth...

But with a 5.1-system connected to your pc you could play every cd on a seperate speaker.
That was easier than I thought it would be. I downloaded this (http://www.download32.com/mp3-multiplexer-i41206.html) program and output all 5 files to one "mixed" track.
On first listen I\'d have to say that it does seem to be the way they were meant to be heard, sounds like they fit together perfectly like puzzle pieces. I doubt that this could just be a weird coincidence.
I would urge all of you hardcore bots out there to try this for yourself and report back here your findings.
If pressed to answer if I thought that this was how "it was supposed to be" I\'d probably have to answer yes at this point. I rather like this Frankenstein\'d version. Maybe this is a prime example of the whole being greater than the sum of it\'s parts?
The Monolith Multiplex.
