How about a sample from a track or two, something that will really provide some idea of the flavor of this new release...

No more information for now. As always, if you are wary of buying something like this without knowing more, I recommend you don\'t. Wait till some people get theirs and more information will be available. As with LEs in the past, we consider half the fun to be the anticipation. Considering Buckethead has released a plain black CD in a plain black digipak, I think this has a lot of information. I\'ll add more information on the forum here soon.

I agree.
While not the biggest fan of ISOT, I still love it because it is incredibly unique. Nobody else had done anything like it.
I bought this because I not only want the LE, but also because I want to be in the same boat as everyone else when it is opened and played for the first time.

I have to say, as a long time Bucket Head (since \'92) ive learned that if its got Bucket and Brain it is 99.9% sure to please.

I also know alot of people who kick themselves in the ass for not buying the LE\'s when they had the chance. Plus, some people are a little anal about getting a low numbered editions.
Title: Re: BEST REGARDS?
Post by: BelieveIntheBucket on July 16, 2010, 08:47:51 am
YAY!!! A new LE!!! i was so pissed!! i missed all the other ones ??? but now i can have this... and this ones a collab with brain and a new member. fun
Title: Re: BEST REGARDS?

Agreed, half the fun is the anticipation. I just placed my order!

This has been a great week with the announcement of this new limited edition release, as well as the re-pressing for "Slaughterhouse on the Prairie" and "A Real Diamond in the Rough"  ;D

Sorry, as with previous limited editions, we don\'t say how many will be made. But they are limited and it will end.

Post by: Yakuza on July 16, 2010, 06:38:05 pm
I likely won\'t be able to purchase one of the limited editions, sadly.
Will a non-limited reproduction be made later, like In Search of The?

Doubt it.

"Buckethead always has albums" - Pinchface ;D

just sounds like a kick ass album title to me, or possibly having to do with Buckethead\'s recovery in a way or something, who knows?

ps. THANKS TRAVIS FOR THE AUTOGRAPHHHH!!!!

OK

i finished listening to all the cds

ok

now the only thing i will say
if u like Kevin\'s Noodle House then this is a definite buy
out of this whole set i only like the first song on the blue cd and thats about it

i dont mind the money used towards buying the set but i my expectations were greater.

this is a great collectable. and it shows that buckethead is just as experimental as ever.

but if ur looking for music like praxis/iconography/dragons of eden, then ull have to wait i guess.

EITHER WAY

im happy i got a limited edition and well im one of the few who got this

hopefully this helps a couple of people

Whenever something prevents me from getting on here for a couple of days there is ALWAYS a LE when I get back.  Unreal.  I don\'t know whether to be annoyed or excited.  I guess I will go with excited.  Maybe I need to stay away more often.  Anyway, it will be another big number on my LE but I don\'t care.  5 CDs from Buckethead and Brain is unreal.  This is really exciting.

I dont think theres anything wrong with selling a cd you are not happy with for lower than what you bought it for. There is a LE ISEARCHOF CD set for 300 on Ebay. Thats way more than what I paid for mine.
So who is really wrong here?
Think about it before you say " I hate those people".

If the person was looking to get more money for "Best Regards" they would of waited for it to be sold out here.
Title: Re: BEST REGARDS?
Post by: In Search Of The on July 21, 2010, 02:52:27 pm
Yeah, it seems a tad pointless. Maybe it\'s to give someone a second chance at owning it? Either way, the LE run isn\'t over yet so I don\'t know the logic in that.

If it were me doing this and numbering each copy, I\'d have customer records for each number. That would make naming and shaming very easy, though I doubt Big B and Travis have a malicious bone in their body.

Still, if it were me, I\'d like to know just who I\'d sold it to.

How about if the person didn\'t care for it? It is already getting mixed reviews.
Title: Re: BEST REGARDS?
Post by: In Search Of The on July 21, 2010, 03:09:34 pm
Well it isn\'t going to be for everyone\'s taste. I hear that it is very experimental and as much as I hate to use this statement, it may take a few listens to "get it". We\'re all going in blind buying it. I just appreciate the work, and I\'m happy to support everyone by taking part in all this. If I like it, it\'ll be a bonus.

No doubts though, I love his experimental side.

I can almost guarantee that the seller is hoping to get $100+ for it because he knows that not too many people know that they can get it from here.
Of course he\'s trying to profit off it. He\'ll have copied the discs, put it on the torrent sites and sold it on. He might have even bough 2 sets.

I doubt he will make any profit on it being that it isnt sold out plus if he/she wanted to they could of listed it for more.
Like the one dude seeling the LE INSEARCHOF for 300.00 and how about those shirts. .. are they legal?

Selling an item from here and starting cheap tells me the person just didn\'t care for it and rather get something back.

I\'ll bet anyone this person doesnt make a profit.

and besides I rahter stay positive and not guess why this person is selling the box set. He still had to buy it from here which supports Buckethead and others.

I pretty much bought all of Buckethead releases from here and feel happy to support such talent regaurdless of price and what I was going to hear.

Regardless im hoping for them all by the beginning of next week (latest). Like you say, tdrs is usually quick with the shipping. btw where abouts in the UK you from?

Whats your favroute type of Buckethead stuff?
You preffer the likes of..Colma as opposed to The Elephant Man\'s Alarm Clock?

I\'m from Manchester. Great city but severely overlooked by the man himself.

As for my favourite kind of material, it really depends on my mood. I love Acoustic Shards and Albino Slug, but my favourite is ISOT as you could probably guess. I\'ll literally listen to anything of his.

I do love his more chilled out stuff more.
I really like Shadows Between The Sky and Colma, Electric Tears etc...
I love Elephant Mans Alarm Clock, such a good album. Inbred Mountain is good. I love the stuff with Travis and Brain, axiology and dragons.
Is ISOT really that good? And how\'s Acoustic Shards? I haven\'t got round to buying that one yet...

ISOT is all over the place.  There are a lot of very random tracks, many that have a theme that Buckethead plays around with for extended periods, and a few shorter, tighter tracks.  I really don\'t know how to begin to describe it.  I personally find a ton to love about it and recommend it, but for some people it wasn\'t really their thing.

Acoustic Shards is one of the oldest available recordings of Buckethead and is just him jamming on an acoustic guitar.  There are a couple of early versions of songs that appear later on in full form.  I like it but it is possibly of more historical interest than something that I put on all the time.

tuesday. So im thinking we will get our Best Regards beginning of next week.
Listened to the first disc and I love it, you were right, it is all over the place but it fits. I love buckethead and appreciate how unique he is, this is just another reason why that is true.
Guy from Manchester! He is more likely to come closer to you than me. Im from Glasgow (Scotland) so i think we are bothed screwed haha. 8)

Heard bits about both, apparently there\'s some confusion between SDT and Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell. That\'s because there\'s a song on SDT that\'s called Cuckoo Clock Of Hell. I don\'t know much more and I also would like more information.

As for the Disney record, I hear that\'s Buckethead\'s most prized release and he won\'t bring it out until he\'s absolutely satisfied with it. It sounds like it would be an amazing album.

Even though people have disputed this when i put it on wiki, I remember very clearly before cuckoo clocks was released, on the bucketheadland website it advertised Super Diorama Theatre as the upcoming album and there was a preview track which was none other than "Moths to Flame" which is on Cuckoo clocks.

I have no doubt that SDT was just renamed to CCOH.  People disputed this though and said that there was info on the artists which featured on SDT and they aren\'t on CCOH.

I still believe that SDR is CCOH and for that matter I don\'t believe the disney album exists either

Thanks for clearing that up BB.

As for the Disney album, I don\'t think it exists yet, but Buckethead must have so much going on that he doesn\'t really want to start it for fear of ruining it. I know the feeling. I think it will be released eventually, but not for a long time. To hear Disney theme songs played by him would be amazing.

Post by: beelzeBob on July 23, 2010, 01:39:01 am
I vaguely remember when all of this happened. As I recall the skinny at the time the Disney Album and Super Diarama Theater were supposed to come out was that Theater was split up into other albums that were released or eventually became CCOH. The Disney Album was recorded, but could not be released due to copy right violations and Disney not allowing BH to use the rights to use the music. The Disney Album is probably sitting on a hard drive locked away in the vaults of the coop.

I\'ve just had a thought. There\'s some similarities between this release and Monolith. Both have 5 discs and both clock in at 40 minutes-ish each. Do you think they\'re meant to be played simultaneously like Monolith too?

Ok, you\'ll have to give more explanation about playin\' monolith simultaneously, never heard about that before.

Contact Travis regarding broken boxes and stock, I\'m sure something can be sorted.

And regarding Monolith, I don\'t know where I heard the idea but some crazy motherlicker on another forum posted an edited edition of it which combined all 5 parts. It sounds like it was designed that way. Really interesting listening.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monolith_(Death_Cube_K_album)

The definition of monolith taken from dictionary.reference.com:

noun
1. an obelisk, column, large statue, etc., formed of a single block of stone.
2. a single block or piece of stone of considerable size, esp. when used in architecture or sculpture.
3. something having a uniform, massive, redoubtable, or inflexible quality or character.

You can use the sound editing program, Audacity, to achieve the combining of the 5 discs/tracks of Monolith apparently, though I havn\'t yet gotten round to doing this myself. There is some degree of room for interpretation/customisability on this though! I mean do you start all the tracks at once and leave it so the longest track plays out last or do you time the synthesization so that they all end at the same time? For that matter, if you decided to not do the former, when do you decide to start each track ie what combination?! I think this a brilliant idea for a release by Buckethead/Death Cube K purely for this reason ie it gives the fans a chance to play around with a release by him! ;D

QuoteWell the version I heard was very well synced. I wasn\'t sure at the points in which they began because there\'s around 4 minutes difference for some parts.

Right, yeah, I was talking from being the creator of the synch as opposed to a sampler of the end product (I would of expected this to be very difficult to disect as a listener that didn\'t do the combining themselves!). ;)

Post by: In Search Of The on July 23, 2010, 05:27:07 pm
Yeah, I\'ve listened to all parts quite a bit but I can\'t quite place where and when it comes in, because there are very little silent patches that allow for the discs to "catch up" with each other if you get my meaning. It\'s almost as clever as the album itself.

Just out of curiosity, Travis (if you\'re reading) what would be the policy for broken orders?

Taking from the FAQ:

Q. I received my order but the package was damaged or the CD case or disc is cracked or broken.
A. We use hard shell boxes to protect the CD\'s we ship. We have shipped thousands of CD\'s and have had
very few problems with broken CD\'s. Having said that however, CD\'s are notoriously prone to having their plastic cases getting cracked
in shipping or just about any other act of handling. The plastic case is very thin and it\'s unsupported from pressure to the front of the
CD. Just a little pressure on the front of the case and even with packing material around it the case will crack. Another problem is there is nothing to prevent
the disc from popping off the spindle and getting scratched by it in the shrink wrapped case. No amount of packing can prevent this.
Way less than one percent of CD\'s arrive with any damage. Any more effort in packing them would increase the cost to everybody\'s shipping and handling and would
still probably not prevent the above damage. In any event, if you have problems with damage
email us here and we can send you either a replacement case or CD if needed. If you have a problem with damage on an international order, please email us
our remedies may be vary for international orders.

I thought about that but now that I\'ve listened to each disc, no. Each disc of Monolith is ambient, so there\'s not a whole lot going on. It\'s possible that he recorded 5 different parts to 1 giant song and split it into 5 discs.

BR probably has too many things going on to do that, all though the less experimental songs are very repetitive. There\'s not a whole lot of shredding or technicality. Then again, the styles of the songs clash.

Most BH CD\'s are 40 minutes anyway. I\'ll try it out but I don\'t think it will work.

Edit: Im listening to the first 5 songs together and it really doesn\'t work. Maybe Blue 1 and Orange 1 together or something would work, but I really think these CD\'s are supposed to be separate.

I don\'t know the physical procedure of imported items going through customs, ie do all or only a proportion/percentage?, but I do know that items imported from outside the EU into the UK, if over £18 in declared value, are liable for import VAT being charged on top of them (this is same value as regular VAT so currently 17.5%). Along with this comes a Royal Mail handling fee- for handling the package from customs to your address- of £8.

You could be right though, perhaps slunks have hijacked the shipment! ;)

i was recently listening to the purple disc.
track 2 is very percusive and its like 30 mins long.. theres just alot of experimenting on this track. it first sounds like african music.. then it goes into some heavy base hip hop which is very interesting..
track one so far sounds a bit funky to start with little ambience.. uhh we hear alot of tom tom work by brain.. while bucket messes around with line 6 pedal. which he uses quite extensively on this box set.  its basically lots of noodling

QuoteI believe in the slunks, cyborg slunks at that. those bastards! Thanks for the update on the purple disc, any news on the green? haven\'t heard anything about that one yet. Does anyone think Buckethead will have any more releases lined up pretty soon, I know this is JUST out. But bucket is famous for speedy releases as you all know.
the green one is very mellow i believe
first track is just noodling but then gets into a very calm state
the 2nd track is were this album shines.. it has a colmaish feel to it and well its very mellow..

i believe bucket will not have anything released on his own for quite a while   maybe even up until the end of the year.. i think this is the year of collaborations and guest appereances by bucket!  but who knows      even best regards was a total throw off

taken from Buckethead\'s Wikipedia page:

In March 2004 Buckethead left Guns N\' Roses, according to his manager, due to "Guns\' inability to complete an album or tour". Guns N\' Roses\' response after Buckethead\'s departure was as follows:

During his tenure with the band, Buckethead has been inconsistent and erratic in both his behavior and his commitment, despite being under contract, creating uncertainty and confusion and making it virtually impossible to move forward with recording, rehearsals, and live plans with confidence. His transient lifestyle has made it near impossible for even his closest friends to have nearly any form of communications with him whatsoever.

Okay, so I\'ve been slapped with a 16 pounds Customs charge. Not particularly pleased considering I paid for UK shipping on top of that but there\'s nothing you can do and it\'s no-one\'s fault. At least it\'s safe and it\'s as good as mine. I\'ll go and pick it up today, though my arse is going to be particularly sore after this trip!
Title: Re: BEST REGARDS?
Post by: In Search Of The on July 29, 2010, 11:08:39 am
Okay chaps, just been to collect mine, I have #200 which I\'m quite pleased about. However, there\'s some damage to the case, including the pegs which hold the CDs. As a result the CDs came loose in transit and there\'s some scratches here and there. Quite disappointed as I paid a lot of money buying and recovering it but it can\'t be helped I suppose. Don\'t quite know what to do really except try to enjoy them.

EDIT: Just to add too, the case doesn\'t even hold the CDs, there are very little pegs remaining so the CDs are free to rattle about and fall out of the case when I open them. Quite gutted if I\'m honest.
Title: Re: BEST REGARDS?
Post by: Alex R on July 29, 2010, 11:48:31 am
^That was likely the customs people. My order of Deli Creeps and 2 Bucketheadland 2 CDs was custom\'d and every case was smashed apart. The only other damage I\'ve ever had from a TDRS order was once there was a single crack on the case about 3cm long.
The thing that I thought about was: This CD has travelled about 5000 miles to get to me, it\'s amazing there isn\'t more damage.

Same here. It sucks, especially when some don\'t get hit by them and you do but I had to factor the liklihood of getting custom charged in when buying the item so I can\'t complain too much. It just irritates me that I have to give RM £8 just to deliver it to me from customs! Outrageous it is. Anyway, moaning over with I\'m looking forward to finally hearing this set

Someone please explain it... sorry...

Post by: In Search Of The on July 29, 2010, 08:40:01 pm
Well I asked at both my local post office and the post office I collected it from. From what I could gather from their bullshit linguo, it has something to do with the labels on the package and the path it takes. ISOT wouldn\'t get rifled through because it\'s a standard package. Because BR is what it is and it\'s been labeled as such, it gets searched.

I think.

As far as I know, they just randomly select any parcels which are labelled as a value of over £39 I think. ISOT can get custom\'d, mine did.
It\'s just randomly picked I think. Or a percentage of the +£39 valued packages get done.
That\'s the answer I got from my Royal Mail collection office when I asked. Looks like they don\'t have a reason at all - They just want money of people.
I agree. It\'s a ridiculous rule, there is no good reason for it, and they just ransom packages back to people that they\'ve already paid for.
Are there any other couriers you can use which don\'t charge for imports? UPS or FedEx? If they don\'t charge could Travis maybe offer an option to use a different courier? (Most likely at additional cost, though)
It\'s just I\'d rather pay an additional $10 here for UPS postage than get hit with an extortionate customs charge.

PS, glad you finally got it.
My favourites are Green 2, Orange 2, Yellow 3 and 4.
I haven\'t got my Blue disc yet, but people are saying that\'s really good as well!

The one I got with my set won\'t play on anything I try it on. There is data on the disc - I can see it, but nothing I have can read it so i think it could be corrupted or it burned wrong.
I emailed Travis and he\'s sent me a replacement out 8)

I\'d be open to paying a bit more for an alternative shipping courier provided they didn\'t charge for delivery from customs to your address as Royal Mail do, definately. The customs/import charge- import VAT to be precise-, I wouldn\'t imagine you can negate with any certainty if you use different couriers to import as they\'ve all got to get into the country the same way/route I\'d guess. Come to think of it, it\'s totally possible that customs enlist Royal Mail to deliver packages from them to the end destination, domestically, ie that the initial import courier doesn\'t resume delivery after the package has been processed through customs. Therefore, the £8 handling fee RM charge might be inescapable. Hence, it might not change anything to use an alternative import courier such as Fedex or UPS. Anyone know anymore on this?

International orders my be subject to import duties by your country. To see what these might be, contact your local customs office.
We always ship international orders with customs declarations of the retail value of your order. We will not falsify these documents, please don\'t ask.

It\'s so stupid. They open in the morning and close at 12 and are closed on weekends, so if you have to get to work when are you supposed to pick your thing up?
That happened to me when I ordered a Wah pedal - It got delivered/sent back to the office on a Friday so I had to wait until Monday to get it.
