TIMELINE -

Bucketdog posts contest details....

People show more interest....

bucketdog allows more time for the prospect of a bigger field because that would be more fun...

Contest update WITH dates are posted to tdrs...

People drop out...

bucketdog allows a little more time for others to fill in...

Contest begins

Now let me ask you...Whats so convoluted about that? This is not the olympics, people. This is a fan made small time contest. So yeah, whatever........................ .

i didn\'t mention anything about a timeline... but somewhere in there it should mention that you proceeded to delete all previous information relating to your contest.

look it really doesn\'t even matter. its your contest.. do whatever you want. i was just sayin, it is a really cool idea with a great prize. so i think if things were laid out, and really clear, i would have been easier for more people to enter.  thus making it more dynamic and interesting. i should mention that the people that did enter, did a great job.

badgerbot

I thought it was just plain weird that so many people disappeared after signing up and even re-signing up.  In my line of work we do far more complicated things with much less hand-holding.  Do we really need training wheels for something this simple?  I would have been happy to email or send personal messages or postal mail or carrier pigeon reminders if folks had wanted me to.  We had three sponsors, each of who could have been reached if there were questions.  Folks just disappeared or forgot.  The contest and instructions and access to the answers to any questions were here the whole time.

Jowaxe

I don\'t think its weird at all that people disappeared. That\'s what happens on the internet...people can commit and not follow through. It happens all the time. The 3 month wait could have been a reason for people forgetting about the contest though. A shorter timeline could have produced more excitement and bots would have been all over it methinks...

But like ants said...its a nice and very generous prize and we got to hear some cool songs and see some cool vids. All in all, a great idea.

And Badger, laying out the guidelines of the contest and leaving it there (and updating the initial post) is not handholding or providing training wheels. That\'s normal contest communication.

badgerbot

Perhaps I\'m out of my league, out of my area.  The noise is interfering with my enjoyment of Buckethead.  This is my 90th and last post.

Jowaxe

Well that\'s sad....because someone provided feedback on a contest that you did not run, you\'re gonna stop posting here?

Didn\'t run? he paid for the contest as did Bucketdog and myself this was supposed to be fun...but its cool. I\'m gone as well...most people on this forum wouldn\'t know what common sense or originality was if it hit them in the face with a baseball bat.

Bucketfel

One completly developed with video and everything that i based on Buckethead but in fact turned out to be somewhat love song.

The other one is a one minute track, bad taped with 2 guitars and nothing else XD

As neither seem to qualify for what i understanded from the guidelines, i didnt enter but maybe if its a "band" type of song, ill enter that first one ;D

(Most likely Bucketdog is gonna win) ;D ;D ;D ;D

^^^ Badger contributed to the contest funds. So he kinda does have a say in this regard. Also, Badger is one of the nicest bots on this forum I know...

I wanna make something real clear to those who have an issue with the way the contest has been run. First off, not one of the contestants has complained with the progression of this contest. The rules and due dates were absorbed by the people that it pertained to (the contestants). I don\'t really think it\'s a big deal if you missed out on the minor details PERTAINING TO THE CONTESTANTS.

If you are not contending, all you need to know is the information I have provided in the official contest thread: Pick a bot\'s work you like with a vote and that\'s it! I dunno why people are stressing this so much. I am seriously perplexed.

In closing: please try to enjoy this contest for what it is. A lot of hard work and money has been put into this. This for fun and something extra to do at TDRS and to support buckethead.

Peace and Chicken,
BD

What? He contributed to the prize money...that doesn\'t mean he ran the contest. He did no communication about it save for the fact that he contributed. Bucketdog ran it and him and I have had a PM conversation and as far as I know, we\'re good.

Anyways, why are you all acting like little girls at a tea party? Take the feedback constructively as it was given with class and learn from it. Don\'t take your ball and go home.

Man, you just insulted "most people on this forum"....nice sense of community ya got there. If you were referring to me, that\'s cool...i can deal with that but if that\'s the case, you should call me out directly or PM me. If you really are talking about most people on this forum, then why were you here anyway?

This has gotten silly and out of hand. I provided feedback about the contest and people got all fired up about it and started insulting others. I\'m sorry I didn\'t kiss up to the three of you because you were offering up such a generous prize (which it is).

All I said was that communication and execution could have been better...if you can\'t take that feedback (Bucketdog did by the way), it is no longer my issue.

We\'re all Buckethead fans here and we love his music...everyone doesn\'t have to like one another because that\'s unrealistic in life, but we can try to get along.

Stick around boys...you\'re obviously contributors here...just don\'t take feedback so personally.

Cheers.

^^ to be honest I don\'t think it was the feedback we got that caused the upset. I think we were trying too hard to get the contest back on track in a smooth fashion. And the feedback was counterproductive at that point in time. I\'m not saying your guys feedback was not informal or positive --Feedback is a good thing-- .Just bad timing. We def did not want drama. That\'s for sure.

I would say that the show must go on ;D ;D

Maybe its the size of the reward that draw many people who werent really interested and just wanted the money, or maybe they completly forgot (cant believe how many times ive forgotten that ive posted something on a thread and then never checked it again)

Its their problem.

If you signed in, and you are still here, then you got less competition. And most likely Bucketdog is gonna win his own contest, hahaha ;D ;D ;D

Now, on the other side now im angry because ive been told that i dont have originality which i agree and im not angry about it ;D but when i was accused of not having common sense, that is something that pisses me off. First of all, i dissagree with not having common sense because no one is gonna say that they dont have common sense, its something that everyone has like a brain, just depends on how you develop it, but at the end everyone has it. Maybe i could be wrong but as you said:

"most people on this forum wouldn\'t know what common sense or originality was if it hit them in the face with a baseball bat"

Im guessing your face must be beaten up my friend to make such hipocritical acusations ;D ;D

^^ Dude, I understand your frustration. I think everyone kinda went nuts and it\'s all good now ;D

I really appreciate how much you have been enjoying my song. However, please be more polite if possible when speaking about the other contestants work. I know they all put a lot of time into their work. I know I did... I spent the better part of 2 weeks working on my song and then another 4 days perfecting the solo to my liking. Then I spent a few days picking movie clips I liked and then spent another 8 hours straight editing and splicing them with my friend. So all in all I have about 108 hours of work into that video I did, including the song and solo composition. And I would be very hurt if someone trashed my work. You\'re a good dude, just try to be a little more considerate 8) rock on!

This has been a great contest, and I enjoy how it pushes me to write music.
Question: How did you guys record your material? Mine was done on a jamman looper, which unfortunatly doesn\'t carry the effects with it onto the computer. It did come out with a kind of muted, underwatery effect, which I like. Any suggestions on recording would be much appreciated.
